ROLE

  • SPAN Digital is a rapidly growing premium software product and consulting company with Headquarters in San Francisco, USA., and Development offices in Cape Town, South Africa, and Guadalajara Mexico. We focus on the entertainment, technology, and medical industries. We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to work closely with our software engineers to help deploy and operate various products and systems which will often need to be deployed in concert with each other.

RESPONSIBILITIES


It is required of the Senior DevOps Engineer to work remotely with developers in different organizations, as such, adapting to different methodologies and technologies is essential.


TECHNOLOGIES
Cloud Management Platform/Providers (AWS/Google Cloud)- PostgreSQL, Aurora (AWS managed PostgreSQL)- Basic understanding of SQL (Database dumps, restores, migrations)- Docker, containerization- Kubernetes- ArgoCD, Spinnaker- Jenkins, TravisCI, CircleCI- Git- Terraform, Kustomize, Helm- PrometheusTYPICAL ASSIGNMENTS

  • Building and scaling enterprise infrastructure
  • Prioritizing security and implementing robust and scalable infrastructure solutions
  • Provisioning and managing infrastructure that seamlessly scales to support our growing needs
  • Ensuring compliance with various security and legal/compliance audits
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery
  • Manage technology toolchain and establish effective monitoring and alerting systems
  • Develop and maintain operational tools for deployment, monitoring, and analysis of AWS infrastructure and systems
  • Collaborate closely with software engineering teams to define infrastructure and deployment requirements
  • Provision, configure, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure using infrastructureascode principles
  • Ensure configuration management and compliance with industry best practices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across a wide range of services and functional areas
  • Perform infrastructure cost analysis and optimization to drive efficiency.
  • Keep comprehensive documentation up to date
  • Respond promptly to tickets and alerts sent within the company
  • Review error logs and reports for proactive issue resolution
  • Implement backup strategies
  • Monitor operational resources (K8S clusters, certificates, databases etc.) to prevent potential problems and ensure optimal system performance
  • Provide monthly reports to stakeholders to keep them informed about system health and performance
  • Contribute to our culture
  • Remove technology blockers from the team
  • Identify causes of bottlenecks and make changes to fix them
  • Mentor engineers and associate engineers and help them execute their growth plans
  • Work effectively in teams and lead others to do likewise
  • Resolve conflicts in the team
  • Develop documentation for solutionsA Senior Engineer
  • Applied Understanding/Applied Discovery (>5 yrs <8 professional)
  • A rounded professional capable of taking on most tasks and executing without close supervision.
  • To be able to do on your own very well
  • Able to lead a small team
  • Responsible for mentoring junior staff (10%).
