    Position Summary: Software engineering plays a key role at F5 across various positions. As a software engineer focusing on site reliability, you will approach your work with a software engineering and automation mindset.

    The Site Reliability Engineer III is accountable for ensuring the reliability, availability, and scalability of crucial systems, networks, and SaaS platforms. SRE III oversees the effective and reliable operation of systems through scalable builds and deployments, frequent releases, and complex architectures involving modern technologies. You will collaborate closely with technical and non-technical teams to design and implement scalable solutions, drive automation initiatives, and monitor and enhance the performance of critical systems.

    What You'll Be Doing:

    • Implementing modern engineering practices to automate network and security tasks, ensuring system reliability, availability, and scalability.
    • Scaling systems sustainably through automation, fostering changes for improved velocity, and automating network configurations, security policies, and compliance checks.
    • Troubleshooting and resolving complex issues, automating responses to common problems to prevent future occurrences.
    • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement robust system architectures for continuous service enhancement.
    • Exploring various technologies to build a highly available and scalable system.
    • Utilizing observability and data skills to proactively measure system performance, diagnose services, and identify solutions quickly.
    • Engaging in service operation and RCA activities to define SLOs and SLIs for business stakeholders.
    • Enforcing security best practices through automated systems, maintaining a strong security posture.
    • Creating and maintaining comprehensive knowledge bases for system documentation to support end-users effectively.
    • Participating in on-call rotation.

    What We're Looking For:

    • Proficiency in managing cloud resources, SaaS platforms, containerization, and orchestration with a code-first approach.
    • Knowledge of technology systems, network infrastructure, firewalls, and SaaS platforms.
    • Experience with network management and automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
    • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, security automation, access control, and threat detection.
    • Integration of network and security considerations into the DevOps lifecycle.
    • Proficiency in Agile delivery, DevOps principles, tools, and technologies.
    • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory guidelines.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an agile team.
    • Strong communication, planning, problem-solving, and organization skills.
    • Adaptability to changing project requirements and timelines.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
    • 5+ years' experience as a software engineer specializing in site reliability or a similar role.
    • Technical proficiency in DevOps tools, scripting, and programming languages.
    • Hands-on experience with technology systems tools, protocols, and platforms.
