JOB DESCRIPTION:

The KPS Engineer is responsible
for
managing business improvement projects as a dynamic change agent using engineering and lean tools to deliver breakthrough levels of improvement in operational costs, quality, performance and Safety.

Will train and facilitate activities in manufacturing, non-manufacturing and administrative work areas. Also, will help to sustain, improve OEE System.

Major responsibilities include:

Essential Functions:

Plan, execute and manage projects to complete through product continuous improvement.
Lead value stream mapping exercises to determine and record business improvement areas.
Manage a portfolio of lean projects directed at reducing waste and improving quality to provide greater valve; implements such tools as: 5S, KPI, SMED, VSM, and Kaizen.
Will be responsible for managing and leading continuous improvement projects, as well as mentoring and coaching Project leads as part of Cost Deployment strategy.
Prepare the layouts, detailed drawings, and other documentation to assist in improving the manufacturing processes
Develop standard work standards and line balancing for productivity, document visuals and process as required.
Identify and track manufacturing cost reductions by implementing Quick Kaizen, Standard, Major and Advanced Kaizens or other Lean initiatives.
Execute Projects as need it.
Be a "leaser of change". This person must be comfortable working with all levels within the organization. They must be able to question the status quo and be a strong communicator.
Skilled in lean manufacturing methodologies: Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, TPM, SMED, Six Sigma, Standard work, Value Stream Mapping current and future state and Visual Controls
Train and lead crossfunctional continuous improvement teams; focusing on measurable quality, service and cost improvements.
Trains, coaches and motivates personnel in the understanding and adoption of new principles and techniques
Develop and sustain employees training and development on lean concepts
Supports or conducts trainings for KPS events to support organizational development through the understanding of concepts and practices of KPS
Responsible for maintaining and improve OEE Vorne System, Shopfloor Management.
Identifies barriers to project success and solicits help when needed
Support Safety, Quality Activities, procedures and other pillar activities or initiatives with team members.
The employee has the authority to stop the production line, when he/she notices that the product has a quality problem or defect.
Support PSA Activities and procedures with team members
Perform all those activities that by the nature of the position are required.

Management & Supervisory Responsibilities:

Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees

Knowledge:

Lean Tools

Experience:

13 years Lean Manufacturing expertise having led continuous improvement projects and

Kaizen events.

Must have minimum of 1year experience in the automotive manufacturing environment.

Skills:

Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Ability to motivate teams of people and drive for results.
Effective problem solvers, conduct unbiased analysis, and identify hidden problems to achieve effective solutions.
Team facilitation skills
Understanding of costing structure and quantitative analysis

Education/Certifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Operations Management
Green belt Certification preferred.
Strong Lean Manufacturing expertise
Proven track record in leading highperformance teams and attaining results; able to quantify results
