JOB DESCRIPTION:


The KPS Engineer is responsible
for
managing business improvement projects as a dynamic change agent using engineering and lean tools to deliver breakthrough levels of improvement in operational costs, quality, performance and Safety.

Will train and facilitate activities in manufacturing, non-manufacturing and administrative work areas. Also, will help to sustain, improve OEE System.


Major responsibilities include:

Essential Functions:


  • Plan, execute and manage projects to complete through product continuous improvement.
  • Lead value stream mapping exercises to determine and record business improvement areas.
  • Manage a portfolio of lean projects directed at reducing waste and improving quality to provide greater valve; implements such tools as: 5S, KPI, SMED, VSM, and Kaizen.
  • Will be responsible for managing and leading continuous improvement projects, as well as mentoring and coaching Project leads as part of Cost Deployment strategy.
  • Prepare the layouts, detailed drawings, and other documentation to assist in improving the manufacturing processes
  • Develop standard work standards and line balancing for productivity, document visuals and process as required.
  • Identify and track manufacturing cost reductions by implementing Quick Kaizen, Standard, Major and Advanced Kaizens or other Lean initiatives.
  • Execute Projects as need it.
  • Be a "leaser of change". This person must be comfortable working with all levels within the organization. They must be able to question the status quo and be a strong communicator.
  • Skilled in lean manufacturing methodologies: Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, TPM, SMED, Six Sigma, Standard work, Value Stream Mapping current and future state and Visual Controls
  • Train and lead crossfunctional continuous improvement teams; focusing on measurable quality, service and cost improvements.
  • Trains, coaches and motivates personnel in the understanding and adoption of new principles and techniques
  • Develop and sustain employees training and development on lean concepts
  • Supports or conducts trainings for KPS events to support organizational development through the understanding of concepts and practices of KPS
  • Responsible for maintaining and improve OEE Vorne System, Shopfloor Management.
  • Identifies barriers to project success and solicits help when needed
  • Support Safety, Quality Activities, procedures and other pillar activities or initiatives with team members.
  • The employee has the authority to stop the production line, when he/she notices that the product has a quality problem or defect.
  • Support PSA Activities and procedures with team members
  • Perform all those activities that by the nature of the position are required.

Management & Supervisory Responsibilities:


  • Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees

Knowledge:


  • Lean Tools

Experience:


  • 13 years Lean Manufacturing expertise having led continuous improvement projects and
Kaizen events.

  • Must have minimum of 1year experience in the automotive manufacturing environment.

Skills:


  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to motivate teams of people and drive for results.
  • Effective problem solvers, conduct unbiased analysis, and identify hidden problems to achieve effective solutions.
  • Team facilitation skills
  • Understanding of costing structure and quantitative analysis

Education/Certifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Operations Management
  • Green belt Certification preferred.
  • Strong Lean Manufacturing expertise
  • Proven track record in leading highperformance teams and attaining results; able to quantify results
