Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)


Main Purpose of Job:


The DBT Mexico team works for UK businesses and serves as a frontline response to connect companies with business leads in the country, with the core aim to help UK firms win and expand their business in the region.


The intern will report directly to the Midlands (based in Monterrey, Mexico) and Northern Powerhouse (based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) regional specialists at the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) for Latin America and Caribbean (LATAC).


This is a great opportunity to work at the British Consulate in Monterrey, Mexico at a regional capacity, assisting both regional specialists for Latin America and in the day-to-day administrative tasks whilst contributing towards the levelling-up agenda, which is a key strategic goal as part of the Regional Trade Plan.


Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Assisting with daily administrative tasks
  • Writing reports, preparing booklets, sending out invitations
  • Scheduling meetings, establishing and developing contacts with local and UK businesses and government
  • Assisting on preparations for events (webinars, trade shows, missions, visit programmes) and attending events as necessary
  • Managing the CRM system (DataHub) with meetings and interactions inputs
  • Performing market research
  • Translating documents and reports
Essential qualifications, skills and experience

  • Well organized, results driven person that is selfmotivated to achieve individual and team progress.
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Market Research/Commercial skills
  • Being able to solve problems with minimum supervision required
