Job Description Summary:
What you need to know about the role

  • As a Data Scientist, this person will be providing datadriven solutions for managing and optimizing the AI models for GFCCP Workforce Planning and Management program at PayPal. This role will primarily involve in developing and optimizing forecasting models, schedule optimization models, and enhanced affinity scoring models for routing and prioritization of leads delivery. This role will be supporting data exploration, extraction, configuration, modeling, and developing solutions to improve customer experiences. This person will also be working closely with our technology partners in defining requirements, global operations partners, identifying and driving sustainable operational improvements, as well as with the product development partners to ensure proper implementation of the solution. Your day to day
In your day to day role you will

  • Design and develop forecasting and optimization models using Python libraries such as scikitlearn, PuLP and other linear programming packages on GCP
  • Perform data exploration, preprocessing and feature engineering to prepare data for modeling using GCP data storage and processing technologies such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and Cloud Storage
  • Work closely with business partners to translate service center business requirements into modeling requirements
  • Analyze and interpret the results of the models and communicate the findings to stakeholders
  • Optimize and finetune the models for better performance
  • Update the optimization and forecast models for new or altered business logic in future
  • Adhere to software engineering best practices while collaborating with data engineers & ML engineers using GitHub, Jira, etc.
  • Partner with stakeholders (Product, Technology, Operations) to continually improve/optimize models
  • Share findings by organizing the data results into easytounderstand frameworks using Tableau or other visualization tools.

What do you need to bring-

  • Master's degree in any quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics or Mathematics
  • 35 years of experience with machine learning, experience analyzing large, multidimensional data sets and synthesizing insights into actionable solutions
  • Must have Python proficiency
  • Must have proficiency writing complex SQL queries
  • Must have proficiency with Machine Learning to solve clustering, classification, regression, anomaly detection, simulation, and optimization (including linear programming) problems on large scale data sets. Ideally experience with timeseries forecasting as well.
  • Must have proven ability to merge and transform disparate internal & external data sets together to create new features
  • Experience with supporting deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and enhancement of models in production environment (GCP)
  • Experience with data visualization tools preferred
  • Tableau, Seaborn, Plotly, etc.
  • Ability to independently manage, organize and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
  • Welldeveloped research and analytical skills with good problem solving and lateral thinking ability
  • Ability to rapidly learn new concepts (technical, risk, business) a critical success factor in this role
  • Teamoriented, must be selfmotivated, plan and manage time effectively, and be customerfocused
  • Detailed, thorough, diligent individual with robust data analysis, and time management skills
  • Proven ability to function well independently as well as in a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate concepts and ideas to diverse audiences
  • Experience within the financial industry, with payments/ (eCommerce knowledge preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in risk management (AML, Fraud, Brand Risk Management, Due Diligence, Credit, Compliance, Sanctions, CIP/KYC etc.)
  • Experience in payments industry
