Summary:


The USAID Office in Mission in Mexico is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for a USAID Project Management Specialist (Sustainable Development), position.

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Duties:

The position is located in the Office of Sustainable Development (OSD) at USAID/Mexico.

The Project Management Specialist (Sustainable Development) serves as a Foreign Service National (FSN) professional responsible for assisting with the management initiatives that include developing market-based solutions for better natural resource management and sustainable value chains.

These efforts will support broader goals and objectives, including working with the Government of Mexico to implement Nationally Determined Contributions and the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement.

Reporting to the Office Director or his/her designee, the incumbent will provide technical advice and analysis to team and office leadership.

S/he will contribute to the design, implementation, and monitoring of USAID sustainable landscapes and energy efficiency activities.

S/he will also provide program and administrative support, technical oversight and program management functions, and coordinate USAID activities with other US government agencies and US Consulates around Mexico at the direction of OSD leadership.

S/he will work closely, and maintain strong working relationships, with key government and civil society actors within his/her assigned program areas.

Post Entry Training:

On-the-job and formal coursework training to master USAID's organizational structure, policies, rules and procedures, and operations, as well as those specifically related to strategic planning, program budgeting, and in special program areas related to assigned duties as available, warranted, or required.

Education:

Bachelor's degree or host-country equivalent formal education in a field relevant to the position, such as agriculture, economy, international affairs/development, environment-related sciences, or public policy/administration.

Experience:

At least three years of progressively responsible, professional-level experience in the development and implementation of projects and/or programs, specifically related to strengthening market systems, natural resource management, rural development, or agriculture with donor organizations, government institutions, diplomatic missions, or non-governmental development organizations is required.

At least two years of progressively responsible, professional-level experience in managing projects in the related fields (including providing financial and programmatic oversight).

Experience working collaboratively in virtual and in-person settings.


Job Knowledge:

Must have specific knowledge of sustainable agriculture, rural development, access to finance, market system-based approaches and climate change concepts, principals, and practices.

Knowledge of USAID/Mexico's climate change and economic growth portfolio is a plus, as is knowledge of indigenous issues.

Must also have good knowledge of key stakeholders in GOM institutions, the donor community, private sector and environmental development NGOs in related fields in Mexico, and understand Mexico's political, social, cultural, and economic situation and history.

S/he must be able to acquire a strong understanding and knowledge of USAID procedures, programming policies, regulations, and documentation, monitoring and evaluation methodology, and results measurement is required.
