Job Description Summary:

As a Cryptography Operations Engineer in the Enterprise Cyber Security (ECS) team, you will support our enterprise developers and external merchant's use of cryptographic services.

This role will give you the opportunity to develop your skills, collaborate across teams, mentor your peers, and continue to learn in a fun, reciprocal, iterative, and rapidly changing environment.

We are searching for software engineers to join our Consumer Engineering Team which is responsible for developing all consumer-facing technologies at PayPal.

You will be collaborating with functional teams and influencing product direction.


Job Description:


Your way to impact:

You are responsible for managing PayPal and partners cryptographic keys and certificates.


Your day to day:


  • Handle (generate, create, update etc) cryptographic secrets in live environments.
  • Rotations/Renewals/Migrations of cryptographic Keys.
  • Generate, Update, Import, Export, Publish AES/RSA keys, SSH keys, PGP keys, keystores, CA Certs, SSH, SSL sessions.
  • Support requests for File Encryption/Decryption from authorized stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Cryptography Developer teams on tasks relating to Key Management and Cryptographic Secrets.
  • Work to enhance, refine, automate existing processes.
  • Integration with external partners merchants including TLS/PGP/Encryption/Authentication
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation related to cryptography services
  • Participate in demonstration of crypto products and services to stakeholders
  • Provide consultative expertise for implemented transaction processing/routing, cybersecurity, compliance, PKI, digital certificates and encryption as well as assessing implications for clients
  • Accelerate customer adoption of Cryptography product by executing on implementation and discovering integration and customer requirements for ease of adoption

What do you need to bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years minimum relevant experience, interfacing with stakeholders, driving/managing/delivering IT technical implementations, transformation programs or other initiatives.
  • 3 years minimum experience of any Key Management System (PKI) e.g. Hashicorp Vault, Google or AWS Cloud KMS
  • Good to have programming knowledge with either the Unix shell command language, or Python or Java.
  • Working knowledge of Linux, Git, Jenkins, Docker,Maven
  • Strong problemsolving and analytical skills
  • Technical understanding of security technologies and processes coupled with interpersonal skills to partner with peers and senior leadership to influence priorities for security integration prioritization
  • A sense of ownership and a passion for delighting customers through innovation and creative solutions to sophisticated problems
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively connect with both business and technical teams
  • Comfortable talking about technical topics/issues with stakeholders
  • Experience handling sensitive key materials & classified data.
  • Experience in the financial industry
