Our client is one of the fastest growing companies in the medical devices industry worldwide, recently recognized as one of the 50 Best Companies to Watch, and they have requested us to search for a Maintenance Manager for their currently expanding manufacturing facility in Tijuana, B.C.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides assistance on major deliverables such as facility expansion, capital equipment acquisition and installation, major repairs and overhauls, plant design changes, and other issues related to best economic advantage and schedule.
  • Coordinates activities with Product Development in the transition of new or rebuilt equipment and processes to the production floor.
  • Procures all parts, contracts and equipment used to maintain buildings, grounds and equipment.
  • Obtains quotes and coordinates with outside vendors and contractors on equipment installation and/or repair projects.
  • Formulate and implement an effective preventive maintenance program.
  • Oversees and expedites necessary emergency repairs to minimize costly downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Monitors inventories of machine spare parts, materials and supplies to see that they are maintained at proper levels.
  • Establishes, with direction from operating personnel, the priorities of all maintenance activities through the work order procedure.
  • Monitors the completion of maintenance projects to ensure that safety and quality standards are met.
  • Approves all requests regarding new parts, spare parts, supplies, machinery and equipment for the maintenance department.
  • Oversees building maintenance activities, ensuring that acceptable and appropriate levels of aesthetic appearance are maintained throughout the company's facilities and building.
  • Deals with and directly supervises employees of various skills (electrical, carpentry and mechanical, includes reviewing performance, maintaining discipline, resolving conflicts, scheduling overtime).
  • Oversees the maintenance and inspection of records for all plant operating systems, i.e. fire, heating, air conditioning and utilities.
  • Provides technical expertise and experience to resolve problems of a mechanical, electrical or hydraulic/pneumatic nature.
  • Prepares and submits all required management reports.
  • Completes cost justification reports for new equipment purchases.
  • Performs ongoing study projects on existing manufacturing standards to effect cost reductions through the use of advanced engineering concepts and manufacturing innovations.
  • Analyze and investigate manufacturing processes to detect areas of overspending. Determine causes and recommend effective corrective procedures.
  • Prepare periodic or ad hoc reports on manufacturing costs, causes of variances, equipment and tooling costs, anticipated cost reductions and savings, and related management information and analysis issues.
  • Reviews and updates documents, equipment lists and drawings for the manufacturing operation.
  • Develops, manages and maintains assigned personnel to achieve required objectives. Compensates, motivates and disciplines subordinates in accordance with policies and procedures. Conducts merit reviews in a timely manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, industrial, Mechatronic, or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Must have a broad knowledge of the operation of machinery, material and tools.
  • Requires a broad range of knowledge in diversified machining processes.
  • Must have supervisory skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups of managers, customers, clients and the general public.
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establishes facts and draws valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form and deal with various abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must have good communication skills, at all levels of the organization.
