Objective of the position:


As a member of the Product Design Engineering Department at Daimler Trucks Mexico (DTMEC), provide engineering solutions to Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) in the Harness Integration CPE area that are creative, technically-feasible, and of high quality, while adhering to DTNA Engineering standards, procedures, and strategic directions to contribute to the strategic plan to shift Current Product Engineering (CPE) and New Product Development (NPD) work to Mexico from DTNA Engineering.


The harness integration engineer must be specialist on wiring integration on entire vehicle through routing and clipping techniques and harness build standards, followed by skills such as advanced design tools, deep product knowledge on commercial vehicles, electric and electronic architectures, latest emission regulations which are essential for Daimler Products to reach highest quality and technology.


  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience preferred
  • CAD system knowledge, NX experience required
  • EC (Engineering Client) and Smaragd experience preferred.
  • MACS design engineering (ENG200) experience preferred.
  • FEA and metal parts design experience preferred.

Academic Knowledge:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field required. Degree in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering preferred.

Main Functions:

  • Responsibility: Limited area of responsibility, including assignment of limited number of Harness Integration modules and systems of lower complexity. Support upper level engineering personnel on key assignments and projects to contribute to the achievement of DTNA's strategic objectives.
  • Design: According to the above described area of responsibility, create and manage models, drawings, bills of material, design charts and other engineering data of medium & low complexity using the DTNA product structure management and documentation release processes and platforms (NX, IMACS, IMACS+, ERS+, SMARAGD).
  • Validation: Assure validation requirements for new product designs, as defined by upper level engineering personnel, and coordinate to assure they are satisfactorily completed to contribute to the excellence on the results delivered since the first time

Deliverables:

Complete assigned tasks on projects, no larger than category 2B according to the DTNA Engineering Work Request Category Type, such that they meet established scope, quality, cost and timing to consistently achieve a high level of customer's satisfaction.

Issue

  • Resolution: Provide containment and permanent solutions, as agreed to in conjuction with upper level engineering personnel, in a timely manner to all reported engineering issues to promote an Agility culture within the DTMEC department.
  • KPIs: Assure engineering activities support targets for all relevant DTNA Engineering Key Performance Indicators. Promptly address issues in areas of responsiblity to contribute to the Operational Excellence in the DTMEC Harness Integration Group.

Continuous Improvement:

Implement assigned CI Initiatives for Design Optimization, Process Improvements, and Improved Performance of KPIs in assigned area of responsibility to contribute to the Continuous Improvement culture that lead to efficiency improvements and to exceed customer's expectations.
