Family Description:


Develops, implements and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies.

Interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products.

Estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.

Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.

Develops new or modified process formulations, defines processing or handling equipment requirements and specifications, and reviews processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of products.

Involvement may begin at any step from laboratory-scale to pilot plant to full-scale manufacturing. Coordinates design requirement review with appropriate engineering/scientific personnel to ensure compatibility of processing methods. Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications.

May conceive and plan projects involving definition and selection of new concepts, equipment automation technology, and approaches in the processing or development of new or improved processes.


Knowledge and Technical Skills:
Applies working knowledge of scientific or engineering concepts. Develops technical expertise. Applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Proficiency in processes specific to job function, as well as processes used by adjacent organizations and functions.

Complexity:

Works on problems of moderate scope, where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.

Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Builds productive internal/external working relationships. Solves simple technical problems. Assesses problems and applies insight into root cause. Proposes short-term mitigation and root cause corrective action.

Communicates in a manner that assures understanding. Relates effectively to all types of people, including superiors, peers, and external colleagues. Readily shares information. Seeks ways to enhance team and work group performance. Collaborates within and outside process/area of responsibility. Seeks ways to enhance customer satisfaction. May work occasionally with customer or customer representatives to discuss technical matters.

Follows established procedures. Work is reviewed at critical checkpoints for technical judgment and overall accuracy.

Proactively suggests better approaches, product features or methods of optimization, for assigned projects.

Impact and Results Focus:
Delivers quality work on time, proactively highlighting and resolving barriers. Applies economic understanding and knowledge of the needs of SunPower's customers to projects and assignments.

Minimum Education and Experience:
B.S. degree in Engineering and 2+ years of related experience or M.S. Degree and 0+ years of related experience OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience
