Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • 2+ years of noninternship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including objectoriented design

About the team


1)

Device Cloud Services (DCS):

The DCS team handles device setup, registration, digital content rights, connectivity, and device software updates. They are responsible for backend web services, mobile & IoT software development, and tools supporting Amazon's device portfolio. The team ensures device management, OTA software updates, and device messaging, while also conducting thorough testing before device launches. Some sub-teams include Whispernet, Betas, Localization, and Device Management.


2)

Global Device Quality (GDQ):

GDQ focuses on centralized testing, localization, launch support, and Beta program management. They oversee device launch readiness and automate device definition, provisioning, and launch processes. Quality Services (QS) is part of GDQ and offers manual testing services for a wide range of Amazon products.

They support multiple product teams, including Amazon Devices, Consumer apps and services, AWS, Advertising Engineering, and Amazon Video and Studios.

QS builds test infrastructure and provides test reports to support engineering teams and influence bug triage decisions.

Device Supply Chain and Operations Technology (DSCOT):

DSCOT handles supply chain operations, reverse logistics, and planning/forecasting for Amazon Devices.

They develop and support software and processes for the entire product lifecycle, from planning to manufacturing, inventory, fulfillment, logistics, and quality control.

DSCOT aims to make supply chain operations as efficient as possible and focuses on delivering scalable tech solutions and automating operational tasks.

Offline Retail Technology (ORT) & Demo Experiences:

ORT is responsible for retail fulfillment, reseller experience, and the Hamlet system (B2B bulk ordering and fulfillment). The team builds software for device fulfillment and demo experiences at retail stores where Amazon devices are sold.

They work on the ordering platform used by retailers and create in-store standalone and smart home demo experiences for customers.


5)

Subscriptions:

The Subscriptions team focuses on purchasing, managing, and bundling subscriptions for Amazon Devices. They develop platform components to support digital subscription services alongside hardware. The team collaborates with device teams to streamline subscription and bundling technologies across different device subscription product lines.


6)

Device Analytic Services (DAS):

DAS is responsible for logging and engagement metrics, data science, and insights related to Amazon's devices. The team defines, certifies, and maintains metrics to evaluate device success. They also create tools to automate data cataloging within the organization.

  • Experience developing cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability
  • Development experience defining, developing and maintaining web service API's
  • Development experience with Linux and embedded operating systems.
  • Development experience with communications products (e.g. IP messaging, voice, and video)
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor other software developers to maintain architectural vision and software quality.
