Project Controls Manager

Purpose of the Position:


This position's mission is to ensure a safe and complete execution of all activities related to Project Controls (Scheduling and planning, cost control, reporting, cost estimation, risk management, governance, etc.) related to the Cuxtal II project, collaborating closely with the project team and stakeholders, considering Group's policies, Engie management systems and project specific procedures.

This position has close interaction with senior project management, leading the implementation of all project control activities for the complete SoW of the Cuxtal II project


Responsabilities and Job Functions:

Lead the development of cost estimating, cost monitoring, risk management, governance, document control, Peer Review coordination, planning & scheduling and reporting to align with the project business objectives and execution strategies for the Cuxtal II project:

  • Lead the development of planning, estimating and scheduling standards, procedures and reference documentation and monitor while in execution
  • Lead and participate in project cost and schedule development and reviews.
  • Development of cost studies where specifically identified as a need.
  • Preparation of budgets; track and forecast budgets
  • Lead the identification of project control system objectives, development of strategies and implementation of same to provide the cost and schedule information required by management.
  • Lead the selection and development of estimating software tools and cost estimating databases.
Participate in the maintenance, monitoring and communication of all budgets, plans & schedules for the group

  • Monitor the performance of various contractors
  • Maintain the project risk register
  • Prepare monthly project progress reports for management
  • Identify potential issues, risks and trends in a timely manner such that the Project Manager can take appropriate action.
  • Provide direction to members of the Project Controls
  • Pipelines and Infrastructure group.
Guide and direct resolution of project difficulties and complex project control issues.

Strong analytical skills required to review all project controls information and ensure accuracy as well as identify issues, concerns and potential mitigations.

Interact with the Project Management team and Corporate management team and participate in regular project meetings. Gather information and prepare reports and presentations of information as needed on the project.


Identify and communicate design changes, scope changes and schedule slippages and potential impacts and participate in the identification of mitigations.

Ensure trends of cost and schedule are identified, manage change management process and communicate and suggest corrective actions

Coordinate with cross functional team in project setting, ensure project controls team members are interfacing with engineering, procurement, contracts and construction on concepts and relationships to the scope of work and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards

Oversees project baseline process for cost, schedule and progress and ensure all project systems are implemented according to process and company standards and procedures


Ensure full implementation of company processes and procedures as well as industry best practices with regards to project controls on the project following the company project stage gate process.

Establish risk management protocol which includes identification, documentation, mitigation and tracking of potential risks on the project. In addition, determine potential cost and schedule/progress impacts of potential risks as they are identified.


Develop and manage a proper and accurate Document Control system for internal use as well as for the suppliers, contractors and service providers.
