Job Description Summary:

The Production Technologies Configurations Engineer is responsible is for the new-make manufacturing of Configurations hardware focused on assigned objectives related to delivery.

Activities contributing to improve part producibility, reduce losses and build supplier relationships also include actions linked to technical improvement of existing products and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support to team working on Manufacturability, Producibility and Cost Out projects and initiatives.
  • Recognized as approachable, collaborative and inclusive.
  • Leverage expertise to resolve problems using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Lead and provide guidance on evaluation and disposition of nonconformances. Offer new solutions to producibility related issues.
  • Have high levels of interaction with and exposure to engineers from multiple disciplines, manufacturing & quality, and regularly exposed to commodity and industry experts all while promoting open and honest dialogue.
  • At least twice a year, with opportunities for more frequent, travel to manufacturing sites to gain practical knowledge of manufacturing.
  • Use engineering judgement and experience to challenge entrenched processes and methodology to recommend improvements.
  • Lead technical projects with high complexity through collaboration with field and industry experts.
  • Provide support to repair development, producibility improvements, hardware delivery and vendor qualifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
  • Develop and implement training modules as necessary.
  • Actively contributes to Design Board or Tech Community.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a relevant engineering role.
  • Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate with Senior Leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing projects across functions
  • Capable of coaching others to accomplish assignments
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership experience
  • Demonstrated ability in establishing common goals and objectives
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to influence others and to lead small teams.
  • Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
  • Proven analytical and organizational abilities

Desired Characteristics

  • Previous experience in design of aviation components.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, especially of Aerospace components.
  • Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams.
  • Experience with Ansys and Unigraphics.
  • Certification in ASME Y14 or practical experience with GD&T.
  • Interest in being a selfstarter with a passion for problem solving and driving solutions, while constantly learning and mentoring others.
