JOB DESCRIPTION:


Position Summary:

Essential Functions:

  • Assignment will include system design, system requirements definition, product testing and release of prototype hardware systems
  • Follow market trends and emerging technologies for ZEV systems
  • Develops, supports, and troubleshoots analog circuit design.
  • Develops, supports, and troubleshoots digital circuit design.
  • Conducts SPICE simulation including Worst-Case (WC) and Monte-Carlo (MC) analyses.
  • Determine design tradeoffs and perform tolerances analyses.
  • Develop product FMEA and coordinate product validation and tracking through DVP&R
  • Perform competitive benchmarking on new or existing systems
  • Coordinate technician resources for test setup, component validation and data collection
  • Collaborate and Support University Partnership(s) for eMobility
  • Represent Bendix's interests in professional groups
  • Interface with Systems Engineers and customers to document system requirements and test results
  • Develop technical documentation for products.
  • Interface with customers, software developers, systems engineers, and management to communicate status of projects.
  • Complete Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) studies.
  • Supports supplier selection and provides supplier development support.
  • Support electronic manufacturing; including process FMEA, control plan, function test, incircuit test.
  • Willing to travel (test track, customer locations, global company locations) as required up to 15%.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of power supply design rules and considerations, including lowpower design and remote wakeup design for embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of motors and motor control design rules and considerations, both low and high voltage
  • Knowledge of batteries and charging system design rules and considerations
  • Knowledge of analog design rules and considerations (using components such as DACs, ADC, opamps, comparators) supporting embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of digital design rules and considerations, including printed circuit board layout considerations, for microcontrollers, memory, and communication buses in embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of electronic thermal management design rules and considerations.
  • Knowledge of electronic vehicle control systems preferred
  • Familiarity with Vector tools (i.e. CANalyzer), SAE J1939 and SAE J1587 preferred
  • Familiarity with relevant industry organizations such as SAE, SME, IEEE
  • Familiarity with workings of a standards group or other government agencies a plus

Experience:

  • Engineer 3: 6+ years related experience with bachelor's degree or 5+ years related experience with master's degree.
  • Engineer 4: 8+ years related experience with bachelor's degree or 6+ years related experience with master's degree.
  • Prior automotive industry or commercial vehicle industry preferred.
  • Strong product design experience.
  • Experience with defining and documenting electronic hardware requirements, based on higher order requirements, such as functional specifications, regulatory requirements, and safety requirements.
  • Experience with electronic hardware design tools such as schematic capture tools, PCB design tools, timing analysis tools, and signal integrity tools.
  • Experience simulating circuit performance using SPICE, Mathcad, or Matlab.
  • Experience with tools such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, emulators, probes.
  • Experience in using Vector CANalyzer, CANdela, CANDiva, CANope, CANoe tools a plus.
  • Experience with developing electronic hardware systems that address high availability requirements and/or meet functional safety standards such as ISO26262 a plus.
  • Experience working with standard publishing or government grants a plus

Education:


  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is required
  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is a plus
