Jair Gardea

I am a Biotechnology Engineering student at Tecnológico de Monterrey, specializing in biopharmaceuticals. I have a strong foundation in regulatory standards such as ICH, HIPAA, COFEPRIS, EMA, Clinical Trials, USP, FEUM, GCP, and IRB. Beyond my academic pursuits, I am deeply committed to climate change activism and serve as the social responsibility leader in the Sustainability Secretary at the TEC Guadalajara campus. In this role, I develop sustainable strategies and organize events to promote sustainability awareness among the student community. Additionally, I am an ambassador for iGEM, representing the Latin American region to advocate for science and synthetic biology.

Throughout my university career, I have engaged in significant projects, such as the development of a biofungicide utilizing antimicrobial peptides and interference RNA. This experience honed my skills in teamwork, accountability, adaptability, responsibility, discipline, engineering thinking, and good laboratory practices (GLP). My contributions were recognized with a nomination for a special inclusivity award and a gold medal at the iGEM Grand Jamboree 2022 in Paris, France. The project was also nominated for the student social innovation award by the Eugenio Garza Sada Award organizing committee in 2023. Moreover, I have collaborated with prominent biotech companies through the TEC21 program at Tecnológico de Monterrey. These collaborations include projects with Nits-Dov, Heineken Mexico, Drox Health Science, Hospitales Puerta de Hierro, and Boehringer Ingelheim, where I applied my expertise across various industrial contexts.

I am currently pursuing a degree in Biotechnology Engineering at Tecnológico de Monterrey, with a specialization in biopharmaceuticals. My academic journey has equipped me with a deep understanding of critical regulatory frameworks and hands-on experience in cutting-edge biotechnology projects. My education at this prestigious institution has also provided numerous opportunities for collaboration with industry leaders, enhancing my practical skills and industry knowledge.
