Miguel Ángel Cervantes

Biologist focused on biochemistry processes and knowledge in analytic methods and different molecular tools such as PCR, electrophoresis, chromatography, preparation of culture mediums and stock solutions. I was for three years in a biochemistry laboratory and I know how to use many chemical and biological instruments like laboratory autoclaves, biological safety cabinet, spectrophotometer, microbiological incubator, etc., and I have some experience about how to treat reactive chemicals and biological hazardous waste and all related with RPBI. 

I have technical knowledge about the Quality Management System (QMS), the 8 principles established by the ISO-9001 and I know how to implement the Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle and all related to achieve Continuous Improvement including KPIs, Root cause analysis and CAPAs. These knowledge complement each other with the Pharmaceutical Validation Diploma that I am studying and that focuses in a general way on the 5 major areas of the validation (Critical System, Computer Systems, Analytical Methods, Cleaning and Processes).

In addition, I familiarize with National and International Health Policy like General Health Law, NOM-059, NOM-241, Pharmacopeia of the United Mexican States (FEUM), United States Pharmacopeia (USP), Good Laboratory Practices (BPL), Good Documentation Practices (BPD), International Council for Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH), etc.

Acquired skills: Capacity of using electrophoresis and spectrophotometers
equipment in order to quantify different substances, in addition to thermocyclers to
amplify DNA. Knowledge about preparation of culture mediums, stock solutions,
handling of micropipettes, optical microscopes and analytical balances.

Accomplishment: Development of thesis and paper Discovery and characterization
of Hv1-type proton channels in reef-building corals published in Elife journal
