  • As a key member of the global operational leadership team, the Director of Quality & Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for the development, implementation, training, and deployment of our Corporate Quality Management system (QMS). This position will also lead our manufacturing engineering efforts by developing and executing plans to improve SQDC performance throughout our facilities. This position will have direct management responsibility for our advanced manufacturing team and will work closely with plant and continuous improvement resources to drive fast and sustainable improvements to existing processes as well as lead our efforts to evaluate new manufacturing technologies. This is a highly visible leadership role that will have routine and direct communication with all levels of our organizations as well as with customers and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Work directly with the Quality Managers at each facility to ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) is fully implemented and functional.
  • Interact with our OEM customers and customer service representatives in quality escalation related issues.
  • Lead the Quality management reviews at each manufacturing plant.
  • Develop and implement quality procedures, controls and reporting mechanisms.
  • Support the manufacturing operation teams to ensure the ECM OMS (Operations Management system) is fully implemented and utilized to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

This should include the following:

Proper core and support teams are in place, goals and objectives defined, metrics (Key Process Indicators) established, Tier 1-3 meetings deployed, and escalation process fully followed.


  • Partner with key operation functions in the manufacturing plants to identify opportunities, present ideas, and implement solutions to improve our overall OEE performance by equipment/machine maximizing installed capacity across all operations.
  • Lead and facilitate training in lean principles for the manufacturing operations. Organize and facilitate kaizen events, both operational and transactional for process improvements.
  • Lead complex, strategic, crossfunctional projects yielding improvements and savings year over year.
  • Manage our core corporate technical support team making sure they all are aligned regarding implementing solutions around our manufacturing processes (Assembly, CNC, punch press, bar machines, among others). (AMTO team)
  • Participate in acquisition processes by assisting in diligence and the implementation Continuous improvement processes within acquired businesses.

Required Skills:


  • Deep knowledge of Quality management systems and processes.
  • Supplier development process related to Quality.
  • Statistical analysis skills
  • Ability to Understand, Interpret, and Communicate with Data.
  • Demonstrated ability to positively motivate individuals and teams to meet or exceed project expectations
  • Effective operating in a fastpaced, dynamic environment
  • Proven track record of achieving long term objectives and successfully managing projects that require organizational change at all levels of a distribution or manufacturing organization
  • Problem solving proficiency
  • 5 Whys, 8D, A3, Etc.
  • Great communicator, including solid written, oral and presentationgiving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and change management skills
  • Solid Lean/CI Skills with hands on experience implementing successful TPS based business systems including, lean leadership, strategy deployment, VSM, standard work, 5s, TFM, TPM, SMED
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • Strong project management Skills.

Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in manufacturing engineering, production/operations management, mechanical engineering or Industrial engineering.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Lean/Six Sigma and manufacturing practical experience, preferably in a processoriented operation and/or related industry
  • Specific training and experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
  • 5+ years of relevant business or project management experience required, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast and complex environment
  • Skilled user of Microsoft Office for the purpose of creating materials and tools
  • Intimate knowledge and proven use of Lean Manufacturing principles, specifically 5S, Kaizen and visual management
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing a Quality System of a large manufacturer
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
  • Must have experience in metal mechanics sector.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the following manufacturing processes:
CNC machining, assembly & punch press operations
