Resilience Risk, Third Party Risk Manager

Role purpose:

Global Operational and Resilience Risk (ORR) is a sub function of Group Risk. Its purpose is to make sure HSBC understands, and is in control of its non-financial risk position.

In addition, the function provides resilience risk stewardship to the Regional Business and Functions and the entities we operate in.


Main activities:


  • Ensure that local Third Party Risk policies and guidelines are in adherence with global policies (FIM) and local regulatory guidelines, and that they remain up to date.
  • Provide guidance, review and challenge the 'Failure to Manage Third Parties' risk and control assessment and ensure alignment with the corresponding area Third Party Risk profile and the current control environment.
  • Promote and develop Third Party Risk awareness and risk management culture in order to ensure that the material risks are both evident and effectively managed. This includes attending key governance forums.
  • Identify any concerning trends and challenging the Global Business and Global Functions to address these. This includes monitoring the local external environment to get early sight of emerging risks and provide detailed guidance on controls required to mitigate against them.
  • Recommend Risk and Control Assessment scoping for Third Party Risk and challenge where this is not appropriately applied.
  • Collaborate with other Risk Specialists and Risk Stewards to ensure that they consider Third Party Risk in their guidelines and oversight. In addition, support the ORR Business & Functions teams in their overarching oversights activities.
  • Oversee and report Third Party Risk related risk and control profile, issues or events and any relevant top and emerging risks. This includes reviewing Third Party related issues / events to assess whether the root cause of relevant local operational risk issues and events are fully understood and correctly treated.
  • Lead Third Party Risk governance requirements (such as the Third Party Risk Oversight Forum) and support escalation to applicable senior forums such as the Risk Management Meeting and Board.
  • Ensure that any concerns with key controls and material change programmes, relevant to Third Party Risk, are understood and escalated (i.e. within country, to region and/or global peers) as needed.
  • Oversee that First Line of Defence teams that support the end to end Third Party Risk management activities, such as Procurement, to ensure that they adhere to Third Party Risk requirements (Policy). In addition, collaborate with such teams to provide a holistic comprehensive TPR program which includes guidelines, tools and training to support the firm's embeddedness and wider HSBC community understanding of Third Party Risk.
  • Lead key oversight activities including developing/defining key control and risk indicators, set risk appetite statements, identifying Top and Emerging Risks and executing thematic reviews.
  • Support local regulatory and audit engagements pertaining to Third Party Risk; this includes supporting remediation activities.
Requirements

  • Over 4 years of experience in risk management roles working in Third Party Risk related topics, including understanding of local regulatory guidelines.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of third party risk control environment
  • A Bachelor's University Degree in Finance or Business and a Master's in Business Administration (or related) plus a professional certificate in Third Party Risk preferred
  • Strong written communicator with demonstrated analytic skills
  • Proficiency in English
