    What do you get to do in this position? Schneider Electric is seeking a motivated individual to serve as Sustainability Packaging Engineer in the Schneider Electric Energy Management, Home and Distribution division.

    Individual is responsible to manage the complete plan-of-work associated with the product and up-steam component and sub-assembly packaging.

    Expected to leveraging packaging design experts, Procurement team, Sustainability experts, manufacturing suppliers and assembly plants, internal and external, to ensure sustainable technology and materials are utilized at the lowest cost.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS · Coordinates all packaging related activities in a non-supervisory role across all functions and entities.

    • Ensure Global Packaging Design team is actively engaged in all aspects of the specification, design, test, and final qualification
    • NAM Packaging Engineering:
    This team to make final approval, upload and maintain specifications / documentation in Symphony database to packaging industry standards

    • Design Engineering:
    ensure product and package design are compatible (design for packaging)

    • All internal and external customers to ensure early and consistent feedback including component suppliers, assembly locations, partners, distribution centers, transport companies
    • Packaging supply companies who will provide detailed design and supply of packaging materials.
    • SE Sustainability experts to ensure road maps are clearly understood and in alignment
    • Supply Chain Planning & Logistics to incorporate lot-size planning based on commodity needs for sustainability and other factors as well as returnable packaging challenges
    • Facilitates the development of packaging specification, development, testing, implementation, and final qualification of the specification throughout the supply chain
    • Includes development of single use package design as well as returnable packaging and associated logistics
    • Includes projects in Offer Technology Management (OTM) through the Project Management Process (PMP) and Product Evolution Process (PEP)
    • Forecast Labor and Project Cost necessary to develop and industrialize new packaging
    • Develop packaging solutions in compliance with the Schneider Electric Sustainability requirement as well as Schneider Production System (SPS) lean principles
    • Works with cross functional team members as part of the new product development offer creation process
    • Develop and implement packaging related processes for new and/or evolving products which conform to sustainable, safety and lean principles.
    • Estimates and reports on product costs and capital and manufacturing industrial expenses
    • Performs make vs buy decisions as needed
    • Works closely with Procurement teams including category (commodity) management to ensure we have the right supply base to support sustainable initiatives. This includes the supply of prototype packaging as well as productive.
    • Ensures product records are structured to support effective control of the information and transferred to GSC
    • Maintains current knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment technologies and analyzes these technologies as related to applicability for use in the manufacturing facilities
    • Utilize continuous improvement methodology to improve internal industrial processes

    This job might be for you if you fit the following requirements: · Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, packaging engineering or equivalent technical degree

    • 10+ years of experience
    • 2+ years of experience leading projects and/or team
    • Project management of packaging validation and qualification
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret Packaging solutions and recommend best practices to improve services.
    • Worked in a distribution, manufacturing, or product development environment.
    • Creo (ProE) or Solidworks
    • Microsoft office:
    Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, OneDrive
    Travel required up to 30% (domestic and international based on project assignment)
    Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal)

    • Able to work within a multidisciplinary and multicultural project team: Technical, Purchasing, Industrialization, Marketing, Quality, ensuring the link with the operations facility (participation in design and peer reviews for concept selection)
    • Demonstrate ability to perform root cause analysis and develop action plans to strategically eliminate barriers
    • Proven ability to influence and convince through negotiation. Examples of previous leadership activities.
    • Open mindedness about manufacturing
    • Motivated self-starter, who is able to work in parallel on multiple projects
    • Work with minimal supervision
