CommScope is looking to add Corporate Counsel to our CALA legal team. This role can be based in Mexico City ideally, but other near-by locations might be taken into consideration.

We are currently recruiting for a qualified attorney to support CommScope's business in the Latin American region.

The Attorney role will be under the direction of CommScope's CALA Managing Counsel and will provide legal counsel, advice and guidance for the Company's operations in the region.

The role will provide support for various legal matters arising across the region, which will include commercial, legal compliance (encompassing anticorruption, trade, privacy and other applicable laws), labour and employment, corporate secretarial, environmental, real estate, procurement, corporate functions and other general legal matters.


How You'll Help us Connect the Wold

Under the direction of CommScope's Assistant General Counsel, this position will provide legal counsel, advice, and mentorship for CommScope's commercial operations around the world.

A function of this position is to assist in developing policies and procedures and standard contract templates crafted to ensure sound contracting practices and commercial activity consistent with CommScope's overall business objectives and assist in efforts to ensure that these templates, policies, and procedures are communicated optimally throughout the Company through training and other methods.


Duties and responsibilities include:

Be a business partner, advise and collaborate with business teams and support functions on a range of issues, including, employment, real estate and corporate; Coordinate with other corporate functions to ensure that a consistent and risk-based approach to each of the relevant area's is implemented; advise key stakeholders on contracting with customers, suppliers and other third parties, including drafting, review and analysis of contractual terms.

Provide support to Human Resources department with respect to matters arising in the region; develop strategies for contracting with customers, suppliers and other third parties that maximize benefits and minimize risk; Analyse and resolve pricing and disputes.

As a member of the global Legal and Compliance organization, provide legal support to all functions and businesses, contribute to best practices, training and "One CommScope" approach to diverse topics and policies.

Support entity management across Latin America.

Here, you will negotiate and draft contracts, including purchase agreements, services agreements, and licensing agreements, that promote business objectives.

We will look to you to advise internal business clients of risks, and partner with the business to provide alternative solutions to meet Company goals.

Teamwork and communication are key as you will work cross-functionally with colleagues in our legal department and business.


Required Qualifications for Consideration:


  • Bachelor's Law Degree.
  • Qualified lawyer in Mexico with 510 years postqualification experience.
  • Fluency (reading/writing/speaking) in Spanish and English is crucial.
  • Experience in law firms and inhouse legal departments.
  • Strong team player with collegiate approach, ready to assist other legal colleagues and business areas.
  • High level of integrity, trust and ethical conduct.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently on competing priorities with limited supervision required.
  • Ability to work effectively with and manage outside legal counsel.
  • Proven ability in managing contract negotiations with multiple stakeholders.

You Will Excite us if you Have

  • Inhouse experience at a multinational, consumerfacing technology company is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Portuguese language.
