JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Controls Engineer senior supports the adoption, maintenance, and improvement of highly automated equipment.


Essential Functions:


  • Improve systems to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Solve complex issues with equipment.
  • Leads projects to improve assembly lines output.
  • Support design and launches of highly automated and complex assembly lines.
  • Support programming and troubleshooting of robots.
  • Supports and leads projects to improve the maintainability of production equipment.
  • Supports and leads projects to prevent or predict equipment breakdowns.
  • Supports and influence the introduction of new technology at the campus to improve productivity, quality, safety.
  • Support and lead initiatives for equipment to efficiently ensure product quality.
  • This position has the authority to stop the production line, when he/she notices that the product has a quality problem or defect.
  • Support PSA activities and procedures with team members
  • Perform all those activities that by the nature of the position are required.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and participate in all test stand activities in support of manufacturing, including procurement, runoff, gage R&R, programming, calibration, troubleshooting, modification, and maintenance.
  • Familiar with databasesql, oracle
  • Interface with Information Technology (IT)
  • Familiar with VLAN, switches.
  • Able to connect to Siemens, Allen Bradley PLC to make diagnosis and programming.
  • Design and manage process support systems to maximize equipment uptime and availability (OEE).
  • Daily support to work teams in production area solving issues related to equipment according KPS standards, trouble shouting, etc.
  • Assure equipment compliance to all safety standards and regulations.
  • Supports IATF16949, QFMEA, VDA, PSA activities.
  • Assist in the data collection system to provide quality information.
  • Leads projects to improve assembly lines output.
  • High knowledge of Ignition, Scada WinCC, Thingworx, Wonderware. Octopus, Stiwa.
  • Participate as required and influence next generation of error proofing devices in production.
  • Perform all those activities that by the nature of the position are required.

Gestión y Responsabilidades de Supervisión:

Not responsible to supervise others however could temporally have technicians, students, engineers reporting.


knowledge:

Must have strong programming, electronics, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic background.

Robotics knowledge

Automation knowledge


Experience:

At least 3 years working with highly automated equipment.

At least 2 years working with Robots, Fanuc desirable.

At least 5 years working on a manufacturing environment related to controls, maintenance, automation.


Skills:

Self-starter, capable of working independently, highly motivated with a strong sense of urgency and the creativity to achieve results quickly.

Ability to effectively interface with others as necessary to resolve complex issues.

Posses' exceptional technical skills (electronic, electrical, and mechanical), PLC programming and installation, robots.

Must have demonstrated ability in maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating sophisticated automated equipment.


Education/Certifications:

Bachelor's Degree in electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, or similar technical field.

Greenbelt certification a must.

Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
