    Description

    The Manager ISS and Intramexico will lead the ISS and Intramexico team while also providing leadership over the improvement of the processes in the area. This position oversees the reconciliation of the Interline transactions of Mexican originating traffic through Railinc. and the reconciliation with Mexican carriers, and it is responsible to review and verify the revenue recognition and collections of the transaction with Canadian, USA and Mexican railroads. This role includes developing and implementing strategies to improve the Intramexico reconciliation processes, resolving disputes and claims from the different railroads, and maintaining accurate records while providing oversight, support, coaching and mentoring to the ISS and Intramexico team.

    Accountabilities

    • Develop and implement strategies to improve reconciliation processes with Mexican Railroads and maximize cash flow and cash application.
    • Set and manage reconciliation payment collection goals and targets for the department.
    • Manage ISS and Intramex accounts and develop plans to ensure timely reconciliation.
    • Prepare and analyze reports to identify trends and recommend strategies.
    • Training and mentoring of staff members in department.
    • Maintain subject matter expertise in all business streams and processes.
    • Provide oversight, direction and guidance to the team on priorities and workload.
    • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with other Railroads, and internal stakeholders such as Operations, Marketing & Sales, Finance and Legal team.
    • Provide oversight and support in the performance of accounting month-end-close activities, including but not limited to the preparation of month-end and ad-hoc reports of key performance metrics.
    • Drill down to the root cause to resolve complex issues; ensure a go-forward process is in place.
    • Heavily lead and participate in current and future system implementations – including design and testing.
    • Build business cases to support settlement.
    • Drive process improvement by proactively identifying issues and implementing solutions.
    • Provide subject matter expertise support to other departments or projects as required.
    • Make business decisions on actions necessary to protect CPKC's financial position and direct-action plans both internally and externally;
    • Protect CPKC's value by keeping information confidential.

    Ideal Candidate Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
    • 5+ years professional experience in Accounting and Finance, including management experience.
    • Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience, including leading and managing projects or programs with outcome focused deliverables, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
    • Able to work independently
    • Experience with accounting tools such as SAP (ECC/S4) considered an asset
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish;

    Preferred

    • Master in Accounting or Business Administration considered an asset
    • Railroad or transportation experience preferred
    • Accounting and/or CPA experience preferred
