This position is responsible for overseeing all quality activities in compliance with L&T's Quality System.

Also supervises quality control staff, leading and implementing quality plans, policies and procedures to ensure that products and services meet and exceed customer expectations for Tijuana Plant Operations.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Interprets, prepares and supports quality policies and implements guidelines to ensure compliance with quality standards in an ISO9001 environment.
  • Validate and understand the quality requirements for the introduction and transfer of new products and/or processes for Tijuana Plant Operations.
  • Establish inspections criteria evaluating and recommending alternative auditing procedures for continuous improvement approach.
  • Perform training for inspectors or personnel from other areas, which requires advanced technical knowledge of the final product, process, equipment or tools, etc.
  • Develop and create quality control checklist and document results for inquiries and solutions.
  • Work with planning, engineering and production to define an inspection flow that ensures the timely inspection of product at every stage of productive process.
  • Review and prepare in advance quality documentation for shipments to include qualifications, PPAP's, FAI's and COC's and other documentation as needed or required.
  • Work collaborative to prepare, analyze and present inspection and test reports. Notifies and requires corrective actions to the corresponding functions (Purchasing, Engineering, Production, etc.) about nonconformities and the causes that originated them and verifies the effectiveness of the corrective actions.
  • Coordinate the inspection and test equipment calibration program (whether through subordinates or external services).
  • Participate in projects and/or multifunctional Continuous Improvement Teams.
  • Resolving problems that arise in the process related to suppliers, in coordination with the receipt area, requires corrective action from the corresponding supplier. perform evaluation and inspection of materials received from suppliers.
  • Define goals and objectives for the quality control department.
  • Perform employee performance evaluations and recommend development plans.
  • Perform as quality representative to head and implement ISO9001 Certification

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:


  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum 35 years Manufacturing or Quality Control experience in a metal fabrication or assembly intensive business, including high mix/low to high volume component manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication and/or stamping, mechanical assembly and welding.
  • Good communication skills to interact at all levels within the Organization and Customer.
  • Familiarized with product regulatory requirements such as RoHS, REACH, etc. preferable
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100 and/or 14001 Quality Standards
  • Experience in implementing Preventive and Corrective Action Process
  • Strong process development background with SPC/6Sigma/TQM or similar system.
  • Proficiency in Problem Solving Methodologies and Statistical Quality techniques including: SPC, PFMEA, PPAP, 8D, APQP, MSA and CPK Analysis
  • Strong leadership and organizational capability development skills
  • Developing and implementing operational procedures and policies
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizing skills to coordinate project activities
  • Good decisionmaking skills and response to highpressure situations
  • 90% Bilingual (English Spanish)

WORK ENVIORNMENT:


  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) or protective gear on a daily basis.
  • Occasionally exposed to risk OD electrical shock.
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts, humid condition, fumes or airborne particles, flying metal
burrs and chips and possible chemical irritants such as water-based coolants, hydraulic oils,

decreasing soap and mineral spirit.

  • Occasionally exposed to uncomfortable cold or heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
  • Exposed to hazardous equipment on a weekly basis.
