The Company
Torex Gold Resources Inc.

is an intermediate gold producer engaged in the exploration, development, and operation of our wholly-owned Morelos Property, an area of 29,000-hectares in the highly prospective Guerrero Gold Belt located 180 kilometers southwest of Mexico City.

The Company is based in Canada, with our Corporate Office located in Toronto, Ontario. Torex is currently the second-largest gold producer in Mexico.


The Company's mining asset is the Morelos Complex, which includes the El Limón Guajes ("ELG") Mining Complex, the Media Luna Project, a processing plant and related infrastructure.

Commercial production from the ELG Mining Complex began in April 2016, and the Company's Media Luna project, located 7 kilometers south of the ELG Complex, is currently under construction with commercial production expected to begin in 2025.


Torex's key strategic objectives are to extend and optimize production from the ELG Mining Complex, de-risk and advance the Media Luna Project to commercial production, build on ESG excellence, and grow organically through ongoing exploration across the entire Morelos Property and through potential value accretive M&A.

The Role


The Superintendent, Underground Construction role is responsible for leading the work to complete the Project Plan Schedule to build an underground mine.

This will be achieved through working effectively and safely with the Construction Management team and Contractor leadership teams to complete the project on schedule, qualitatively, and on budget.

This role will be for an 18-month fixed term contract.


Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent preferably in geotechnical, mining, geology, industrial or civil engineering
  • Fluent in Spanish language
  • Proficient in English language (desirable, not essential)

Work Experience

  • Minimum of progressive 15+ years of experience in mining project development and underground construction
  • Minimum progressive 15+ years of experience in vertical development and related construction facilities
  • At least 2 years previous experience in team leadership
  • Excellent communication and performance management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite of programs

Responsibilities

Leadership & Safety

  • Ensure efficient delegation of work to the right role. Follow up on the progress of work and provide coaching as needed.
  • Ensure that all Team Members follow all the health and safety rules and use the appropriate PPE required for underground and for specific tasks.
  • Actively participate, develop, or implement Company safety programs, campaigns, and look for ways to improve safety in all areas.
  • Lead and/or participate in the safety incident investigation process
  • Review the safety KPIs and complete safety duties such as weekly inspections, risk analysis, developing or adjusting work procedures, plans, strategies, etc.

Execution and Optimization of Project Plan Schedule

  • Analyze the shift reports and data to comply with the Project Schedule and Budget looking for ways to improve and close gaps.
  • Provide the Construction Management office with data and feedback about the actual Weekly/Monthly project activities to help with the development of next week/month's project forecast.
  • Analyze ways to improve the construction methodologies and make decisions on whether to proceed or not.
  • Support when required to solve problems that occur during the shifts, escalating as appropriate, confirming there is a mitigation plan in place for unplanned work situations.
  • Review the KPIs expected from the Project Activities and make decisions to manage issues to comply with the Weekly/Monthly Project Plan
  • Inspect the working areas to confirm the status of work, safety execution against the Project Schedule and Plan

Coordination of Resources for the Project Plan Schedule**- Lead the planning of the execution of work for Contractors

  • Complete audits to confirm the amount of resources for the Project Plan (materials, equipment, personnel, etc.) for the life of the project
  • Work with the Construction Management office and Contractor leadership to update the status of available resources for the Project.
