Director, Manufacturing Engineering

Summary


Responsible for all areas of departmental management including personnel, production support, maintenance, materials, and tooling to ensure that products are assembled to customer expectations.


Position Responsibilities:


  • Manage Support Engineering Group, leading support engineers and technicians through career development and daytoday responsibilities for support and sustaining engineering of production equipment and the facilities.
  • Recommend and select new hires, as well as recommend and perform disciplinary action up to and including termination.
  • Responsible for employee development and performance reviews.
  • Oversee the implementation of customer documentation changes and internal order changes.
  • Develop strategies for new business and assist in production planning.
  • Report on the status of NPL (New Product Launch) activities.
  • Use statistical tools to lead quality improvement within the support engineering team for products and processes.
  • Provide product design review leadership to customers.
  • Drive internal and external corrective action plans.
  • Plan new customer development and new business development within the support organization.
  • Analyze data to understand business improvement needs.
  • Ensure personnel actions are consistent with Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action and other related company policies and procedures in compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations.

Qualifications:


  • 4 year Engineering or technical degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by executive management.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering; 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proficient in associated Microsoft products.
  • Understanding of the total business operation to include material procurement, order entry, forecasting, manufacturing, invoicing, customer returns, inventory levels and ontime delivery.
  • Understanding of manufacturing systems and tooling development.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to effectively mentor employees at all levels.
  • Understanding of and ability to use continuous improvement tools.
  • Ability to drive solutions to complex planning issues with limited supervision.
  • Ability to support a 24/7 global business operation as required.
  • Effective analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with employees and customers.
  • Effective negotiation and problemsolving skills.
  • Demonstrate discretion, confidentiality, independent judgment, and professionalism when representing the company.
  • Demonstrate leadership and people management skills.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and the ability to operate on diverse project teams with mínimal direction.
  • Solid financial understanding, risk analysis ability, relationship building and project management skills.
  • Lead or participate in a continuous improvement activity with complete documentation, including a follow up review with the team in a presentation format.
  • Available for travel up to 2540% of the time, including day, overnight and international travel as required.
