As a Manager of Software Engineers at Plexus Engineering Solutions your role will focus on being a servant leader of a team of new product development software engineers.


Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Group and Business Management
  • Manages staff and resources appropriately by effective resource allocation (project and nonbillable, across multiple design centers), facilitating productive staff meetings, developing and adhering to operating plans and budgets for capital expenditures, creation and maintenance of the quality system and CAPA by balances the needs of the employee, the needs of the customer, and the needs of Plexus.

  • Provides guidance and direction and proactively identifies growth opportunities to advance the careers of employees within Plexus.
  • Performance Management and Coaching (FM)
  • Conducts effective and productive performance evaluations, staff assessments, oneonone discussions, and compensation reviews. Provides constructive feedback and coaching, recognizes individual accomplishments, sets appropriate goals and objectives, and resolves personnel issues and conflicts professionally.


  • Group Capabilities

  • Expands and grows group capabilities by hiring personnel, establishing and achieving group objectives, identifying and supporting training opportunities, proper project assignments, developing and maintaining technical roadmaps, and establishing, maintaining, and improving product realization processes.


  • Company Culture

  • Instills and reinforces the Plexus culture and fosters positive change, supports continuous improvement, interfaces/share work across other functional groups, design centers and business units, and fosters positive company morale.
  • Accountable to execute on Plexus' Best People strategy, leaders will focus on evaluating potential, driving succession planning and ensuring that their employees receive the development and coaching required to realize their full potential.

Additional Accountabilities:

  • Participate in succession planning to ensure trained, reliable, and qualified individuals are prepared for promotions.
  • Assess priority of new projects with input from directors and project managers to ensure projects are challenging, promote our industries, or advance our technology.
  • Facilitate acquisition and allocation of capital resources (tools and equipment) to ensure high productivity among staff.
  • Establish, maintain, and improve product development processes to ensure reliable, productive, and quality results.
  • Provide input on feasibility, cost, schedules, capabilities, resource availability, and contractual obligations for proposal development to ensure competitive estimates to customers.
  • Participate in marketing and sales activities including initial customer contact, presentations, and technical and business discussions to enhance the representation of the group's and company's capabilities.
  • Communicate company and group financial performance to convey the staff's performance on key financial metrics.
  • Ensure that nonbillable hours are appropriately allocated for timeoff, group goals and improvements, or other approved activity.
  • Interface with other functional groups to ensure equity among promotions, compensation, and recognition.
  • Interface with other design centers and business units to understand their expertise, tools, processes, and capabilities to ensure Plexus' strengths are utilized.
  • Produce an acceptable quantity of work in a timely manner.
  • Minimal travel may be required to meet the needs of the business, estimated less than 25%.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
