The team you will be a part of:

  • The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.

This role in summary:


Whirlpool is looking for a Product Development Sr. Analyst Engineer (Sr. Eng.) for our Refrigeration Structures Subsystem team. The engineer will be responsible for mechanical structures sub system deliverables, including development, verification, and implementation of metallic, plastic and packaging components for home appliances (refrigerators, water and air treatment); working with global cross-system teams during various phases of projects and across various mechanical engineers' knowledge areas such as solid mechanics, dynamics, material properties, heat transfer, FEM, manufacturing process (injection molding, metal forming, rapid prototyping, etc).

Your responsibilities will include:

Drive New Product Development / Cost & Quality projects for refrigeration business (refrigerators, water and air treatment) with focus on structural components and systems
-
Support and work for projects through all project phases (Concept / Development / Implementation)
-
Develop and capture knowledge required to deliver subsystem level excellence through Design Guides, FMEA, DVP&R, A3's, Tolerance Stack Ups, and other tools and documents.

Cooperating with other functions and teams (marketing, design, manufacture eng., V&V eng.)
-
Define subsystem requirements and validate them through simulation analysis and/or tests
-
Supporting Product Specification based on released documentation and validated tests
-
Support benchmarking activities, experimentation, data analysis via statistical tools (6 sigma)
-
Support intellectual property creation: initiating and following-up on patent analysis and identifying new ideas for patents
-
Prepare and participate in design reviews with your team and cross functional team members
-
Support CAD models development submitting simulation requests with clear boundary condition definitions, and interpret results to make necessary design modifications. Use of tolerance analysis to drive sensitivity in the simulation results

Demonstrate project management skills to drive projects through the design, testing and implementation phase respecting projects KPIs.

Coordinate system integrators, build planners to prototype build plans to evaluate design concepts through physical lab testing

Work with Procurement teams and suppliers to support components development and purchase.

Minimum requirements:

-
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or related field
-
6+ years Engineering & Technical experience in product development or very similar role
-
Advanced / Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken)

Preferred skills and experiences:

-
Experience in component/product development lifecycle management:


  • Experience in component/product development with 3D CAD modeling (Creo 7.0 is preferred), Windchill experience

Experience on DFMEA, System Engineering, Requirements management and Control plans
-
Working experience in injection molding and sheet metal forming processes
-
Experience in tooling construction (injection molding and forming tooling)
-
Experience in simulation analysis (Finite Element Analysis
  • Ansys / Moldflow)
-
Lean/Six Sigma certification and good experience with statistical analysis (Black Belt)

Basic knowledge of computer programming languages
-
Strong critical thinking skills, an agile approach to problem solving, and a continuous improvement mindset
-
Analytical skills, experience in solving practical issues, and engaging cross-functional teams of multiple process partners to a consensus
-
Self-driven and motivated
-
SAP system and Google Environment experience
