- Implements strategies for minimizing organizational tax liability as co-developed with the US International Tax Director.
- Ensures compliance with changes in Mexico tax law and communicates changes to the business groups.
- Leads Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) tax activity including reorganizations and support for due diligence efforts and integration within Mexico and coordinates with the US International Tax Director in this process.
- Understanding of Mexico transfer pricing practices and familiar with global BEPS (Base Erosion Profits Shifting) rules.
- Responsible for Mexico income tax provisions, including deferred tax accounting and uncertain tax positions impacting the local financial statement and the organization's consolidated IFRS financial statements.
- Performs a final review and directs the submission of tax related documents / filings, which include Corporate Income tax, Value Added tax ( VAT ), state / local tax returns, declarations, or extensions as first reviewed by the Tax Manager.
- Leads both corporate income tax and VAT tax audits in the region.
- Oversees the work of external tax consultants and related budgeting (e.g., transfer pricing studies, Dictamen Fiscal, tax advisors, etc.).
- Works with each CFO and Controller for direct and indirect tax responsibility for approximately 10 legal entities in Mexico
- Supports Mexico entities with the conversion to SAP to maximize tax digitalization efforts in the region and as a core regional objective.
- Partner with entities in advancing SAT Electronic Accounting (Phase 3 reporting) in the region.
- Initial shared responsibility for the tax matters of approximately 10 legal entities in Mexico.
- Extensive knowledge of Mexico tax policies, procedures, and practices. Should have strong working knowledge of direct income tax, indirect tax (VAT), and deferred taxes.
- Experience with transactional work (e.g., M&A transactions).
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- Accounting / Tax planning skills
- Project management skills
- Strong Excel and tax software skills
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting and 10-15 years of tax experience. A mix of Big 4 firm experience and industry tax experience is strongly preferred.
- Been part of a corporate tax function within the groups of companies as well as a tax advisor is an option.
- A Master's degree (tax or accounting) or Licensed Public Accountant is required.
