JOB PURPOSE


This position is responsible for manufacturing operations and business support functions of the Medical Device Components (MDC) business with the objective of driving operational excellence in all areas.

The MDC business is executing an aggressive growth strategy in the medical devices sector, with an emphasis on best in class customer focus, lead times and quality.


The purpose of the role is to provide tactical and medium-term strategic leadership required to enable the successful day-to-day running of the plant.

After ensuring the Health & Safety of all on site, the role will be responsible for delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness while working as part of a broader business team including maintaining a strong relationship with the commercial team.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES


Responsible for all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) aspects of the business and the welfare of employees, ensuring compliance with all local and national regulatory requirements as well as JM Group EHS policies.

This will include setting and modelling standards for the behavioural and cultural approach to the management of safety.
Drives a positive and engaged work culture.

Contributes to the strategic plan of the Medical Components business with particular emphasis on devising a customer focused operational plan that delivers on best-in-class quality, capacity increases, efficiency improvements, and other customer requirements.

Develops an operating plan and sets plant objectives that meet the requirements of the budget and three-year plan with particular emphasis on capacity increases while controlling manufacturing costs and working capital.

Devises and executes a capital expenditure program that meets the capability and capacity requirements of the long term, strategic plan, driving operational efficiency and productivity in all manufacturing operations.

In liaison with Group IT (BIS), ensures that IT system solutions are delivered that meet existing and future operational needs, delivering associated business benefits.

Collaborates with counterparts in the JM Global businesses to ensure a coordinated approach to meeting business unit results.

Champions lean manufacturing activity by fostering an environment that focuses on continuous improvement and employee engagement at all levels of the organization.

Identifies and delivers operational efficiencies across the business while maintaining quality standards.
Leads sustainability initiatives.
Works closely with commercial and technical teams to understand and deliver against customer requirements.
Act as 'face of production' to customers, including supporting the commercial team in customer visits and presentations
Plans, controls, and executes customer projects from initial idea to commercial production, including all activities to coordinate qualification of the required processes to manufacture and inspect parts

Works with local HR Advisor in developing and implementing clear strategic workforce plans and talent initiatives which will drive growth for people and the business.

Promotes good governance across the business, compliance with all relevant local laws and with JM policies and procedures.
Keeps senior management abreast of business performance and operations through meaningful reporting in a timely and effective manner.
Carries out any other duties, which are within the employee's skills and abilities.
