JOB PURPOSE:
To provide and manage the receipt and distribution of direct material within the plant. Logistics management is responsible for developing and overseeing proper material flow utilizing CPS guidelines/principles.


JOB DUTIES:

Direct Reports might include Distribution Supervisors, Shop Control Supervisors, Receiving Supervisors.


Primary responsibilities include inventory record accuracy and warehouse management, provide on-site material logistics planning functions, managing material receiving and put away process and OS&D, and driving improvements in point of use availability and delivery.


Distribution - Production direct, indirect, and miscellaneous material is moved within the plant and surrounding areas by means of the intra-plant vehicles.

Incumbent manages inventory levels and the daily operations.

Also responsible for logistics services contracts including the daily operational activities of supporting de-consolidation centers, logistics service centers, and inbound logistics centers.

Incumbent is responsible for the scheduling of supplier deliveries by common carrier and administration of
returnable container programs.

This position is responsible for the coordination of inbound material receiving, plant site material logistics, and managing warehouse, supermarkets, and kitting processes.

Responsible for optimizing material flow throughout the plant site, ensuring availability of needed resources, to include operating personnel and material handling equipment, always working to eliminate traffic bottlenecks.


Logistics Planning - Incumbent provides management for the development and implementation of cost-effective material handling plans and material handling equipment.

This involves providing tactical plans, machines and equipment, and facilities to support long range process improvement plans and daily operations.

Responsible for multiple shift operation and sets general policy including schedules to be followed on all three shifts, servicing production area needs in off shift hours.

Supervises daily activities of staff by coaching, delegating, monitoring progress, and providing direction and technical support. Plans for future material handling needs, equipment, and manpower requirements and prepares operating budget for assigned areas.

Works closely with Purchasing, Demand and Order, Manufacturing, Factory Engineering, Import / Export, and other areas to ensure customer needs are met utilizing least total cost alternatives.

Challenge is to implement cost effective projects within acceptable parameters for schedule, budget, cost reduction and return on investment while providing uninterrupted, quality service to internal or external customers.


The position manages a work unit of management, salaried, and hourly employees where planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reviewing work of subordinates is required.

The position is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates.


POSITION IMPACTS:
Incumbent is responsible to achieve PQVC targets across Safety, POU Availability, Record Accuracy, Receiving and OS&D Processing


JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • Knowledge and understanding of 6 Sigma Project Management principles
  • High SAP experience in IM and WM modules it is required
  • Solid factory logistics knowledge
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Solid product knowledge
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible supply chain job experience
  • Excellent teamwork and leadership skills
  • Develop and deploy creative / original solutions to complex problems
  • APICS CPIM or CSPC National Certification highly desired

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:


  • College or university degree related to Engineering, Supply Chain, or experience, is required.
  • Experience in Supply Chain / Logistics
  • Extensive material distribution experience
  • Knowledge of material handling equipment
  • Working understanding of the various materials systems and how they interrelate
  • Capable of working and communicating within all levels in the organization.
