The Sanctioned Party Screening Specialist is responsible for the daily handling of compliance alerts related to sanctioned party and embargo risks in the SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) system.


What your day will look like:

  • Daily review of the initial blocks in SAP GTS regarding alerts on potential Sanctioned Parties and partners with embargo situations, including releasing "false positive" alerts.
  • Gather information from various partners, do online and database research, and update relevant collaborators on the collected information.
  • Preparation of the reports on GTS system stats, for example, the number of blocks per reporting period, the turnaround time to resolve alerts, etc.
  • Review of error logs (e.g., if any business partner failed to transfer to the GTS system, SPL list data failed to upload, etc.) and communication with the GTS product team when any system issue is identified that might impact operational work.
  • Participation as the lead tester in case of GTS system updates and/or Disaster Recovery testing.

The Tax Operations & Compliance (TO&C) operating within the LEGO Business Service Operations (BSO).

Within BSO, the TO&C team is responsible for meeting the global tax and statutory compliance requirements. The department balances a mix of internal resources and third parties to efficiently meet global compliance requirements.


The department focuses on transparent and accurate status reporting, maintaining a strong internal control framework, using technology and standard processes to meet its operational targets and satisfy partners.


The role as Sanctioned Party List Screening Specialist directly supports the LEGO Group drive and improve tax compliance processes and maintain the status of the world's most reputable company focusing on protecting the brand from compliance risks associated with reputational damage and loss of export privileges.


The role will require a self-starter mentality and a progressive drive to bring in continuously improved processes into the TO&C department.

The performance is determined not only on the stated objectives but on the collaboration and service management provided to partners.

Also, the role is encouraged to bring innovative ideas and challenge existing practices to meet customer needs.


Are you up for the challenge?:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a Accounting, Finance or Law-related field preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of SAP GTS (Global Trade Services).
  • 3+ years of relevant finance and compliance experience.
  • Ability to focus and work with large volume of data striving to avoid manual errors.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Curious to learn about sanctions compliance processes and regulation.
  • Brave to speak up and provide honest upward feedback on possible IT process improvements observed on the job to the supervisor.
  • Training or previous working experience in a compliance field or Internal Controls / Audit function.
  • Ability to document new or change of processes in flow chart and narratives.
  • Ability to work independently to drive successful completion of projects, compliance objectives, and identification of process improvements.
  • Ability to collaborate globally with internal partners, global thirdparty service providers, and compliance bodies.
  • Fluent in English, other languages is a plus (especially Russian, Chinese, Persian / Arabic)
