Position Summary:
The Product Design Engineer II is responsible for detail designing of 3D CAD models and drawings, tolerance calculations and technical documentation for non-active parts and assemblies of an electric machine and component design in the product range
of electric drives.

Position Responsibilities:

Complete detail design of assemblies/components of nonactive parts of electric machine, e.g. shaft, stator carrier, rotor carrier, housing, covers, bearings, assemblies etc.
Prepare 3D models and drawings for individual parts and assemblies, taking into account

dimensioning and tolerances according to production- Consideration of production and assembly technical matters as well as of service and

maintenance options- Prepare tolerance calculations for components and assemblies

Prepare technical documentation (e.g. product presentation, clearance & creepage

distance analysis,...)- Provide close technical coordination with external suppliers and internal departments (e.g. suppliers of

raw material and processing, electrical motor design engineers, quality and purchasing etc.).- Working and implementation of ZF standards regarding to 3D modelling with PTC Creo 4, usage

of Intralink interface and SAP- Participate in the coordination, execution, scheduling, and control of projects to achieve cost, manufacturability, and design requirements by creating / utilizing engineering tools and documentation (BOM, DVPR, FMEA, Control Plans etc.)

Develop alternatives to problems and/or schedule delays; resolve problems with Customers and internal departments, as well as recommend ways to recover project time lost.
Document ideas for purposes of patent protection and provide product information for patent documentation purposes.
Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
Comply with all IATF 16949 policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Mechatronics
34 years of engineering experience in product design / development for electric machines
Experience with the use of molded plastics and electronics (HW/SW) packaging
Advanced use of GD&T
Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Proficient with 2D/3D CAD Software
Strong drive for teamwork with a customeroriented approach to projects
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Understanding of FEA methods (constraints, loading and results)
Ability to interface with crossfunctional teams and all levels of personnel/management
English language competency both oral and written
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 10%)

Preferred Skills and experience:

3D models and production drawings, clearance & creepage distance analysis, technical

documentation according to ZF standards- Knowledge of different materials for electric machines, e.g. electric steel, copper, plastics,

magnet materials etc.- Knowledge of the different material processing and respective tooling technologies for

prototypes and serial production are desirable- Knowledge of connecting technologies for different materials (welding, interlocking, gluing,

fixing technologies etc.)- Knowledge of plastic materials for interface assemblies (overmoulding technologies, plastic tooling technologies,)

Good knowledge of Creo 4.0, Intralink and SAP PDM system are desirable
Existing knowledge of ZF standards would be helpful
Experience with PLM systems (e.g. SAP, Axalant, Windchill)
Experience in the Automotive industry
Use of FEA software
German and/or Spanish language skills are helpful
Design creativity
