Principal Consultant - Energy and Climate Policy

The Location:
Mexico City.


The Team:


The Americas Energy and Climate Policy Consulting Team is a trusted advisor of leading companies in the traditional and new energy sectors, investor and governments.

Typical studies range from analysis of international best practices, country energy policy review, analysis of decarbonization legislation, development of regulatory roadmaps for hydrogen and CCUS development, carbon markets and nature-based solutions.


The Impact:


This role will contribute to the execution of our team's projects for private and public sector clients with a focus on the applicable policies related to transition to low-carbon economies, including carbon pricing mechanisms, hydrogen policies, low carbon fuels, nature-based solutions and economic instruments related to decarbonization of the energy sector.

Responsibilities:

Author and develop energy transition policy reports

Develop client-ready deliverables in PowerPoint and/or Word

Effectively manage entire consulting projects or significant workstreams within a larger project, under the direction of the project manager or project director

Demonstrate expertise in the relevant industry or work process, become a recognized expert on chosen topics of interest within the team and the broader organization

Support business development and proposal writing efforts

Challenge ideas and influence others in the team

Build consensus across the groups with competing priorities within the project team

Participate in client or industry events and share key takeaways that impact the consulting team's work and priorities

Participate in client meetings and lead the presentation of a project's reports

Engage with other consultants across business lines to deliver comprehensive solutions that address the client's needs.


What We're Looking For:

Seven to twelve years of experience in energy policy, consulting, or international organization, in areas related to GHG emissions policies and management, energy transition policies and/r carbon markets

Experience in management consulting will be a significant plus

Once priorities are agreed, the ability to work with autonomy with mínimal direction is preferrable

Minimum qualifications are BA or BSc. in energy policy, environmental management, or climate policy. A post-graduate degree is a plus (including in law, economics, or business).

Strong written and oral presentation skills in English and Spanish (Portuguese a plus).

Must have an analytical frame of mind and prepared to combine policy and market analysis.

Some travel is required average around 20% of time

Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment providing ideas and open feedback.
