Position Title:
Supplier Development Engineer - Software_**
POSITION OVERVIEW:SDE position reports to Regional Supplier Quality Manager.

This will be a new role to quality ensure software during procurement and APQP/PPAP work.

We hope to find a resource that has the will to develop and create such a process with us.


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Define and maintain the MAGNA supplier quality processes for software suppliers
  • Actively involved in new potential supplier selection and supplier onboarding process
  • Perform Prequalification audits according to VDA 6.3 (P1) and work with Purchasing and Engineering in defining the viability of new suppliers.
  • Actively involved in new component sourcing
  • Involved in Request For Quotation (RFQ) process, Team Feasibility Commitment (TFC) process with Purchasing, Engineering and Suppliers.
  • Involved in concurrence meeting and assessments.
  • Setting the component RISK classification for a component project together with Purchasing and Engineering.
  • Owner of Supplier Quality Project supporting APQP & PPAP
  • Define APQP tasks based on the Component Risk classification and PPAP level required.
  • Follow up completion of APQP tasks in terms of timing and quality for defined deliverables.
  • Lead supplier audits (CMMI, ASPICE, VDA),
  • Owner of the PPAP approval.
  • Escalate APQP/PPAP delays / deviations.
  • Assist Engineering in the transfer of Customer Specific requirements to the suppliers (Spec, TFC Review)
  • Supplier KPI rating for timing and service level parameters in APQP/PPAP performance

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in SW/Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • At least 3 years professional experience in design, process, and/or quality engineering in highvolume production industry including:
  • Work experience in software development
  • Work experience in software quality assurance desired
  • Strong knowledge of software quality assurance methodologies, tools and processes
  • Experience in requirements management utilizing various tools
  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
  • Handson experience with both white box and black box testing
  • Handson experience with automated testing tools
  • Experience in industry assessment standards (CMMI, ASPICE, etc.) desired

Skills:


  • Programming languages like Embedded C, C++
  • Real Time Operating Systems like QNX, Linux
  • Developing device drivers and integrating with hardware peripherals such as sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C,CAN)
  • Ability to develop and customize BSPs (Board Support Package) for specific hardware platforms, including bootloader, kernel configuration, and device tree setup.
  • Integrating lowlevel software components like bootloaders, firmware, and middleware into embedded systems
  • Testing Embedded software using techniques such as unit testing, Integration testing, and hardwareinloop (HIL) testing
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR, ISO26262(FuSa), and communication protocols like CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
  • Ability to debug software issues using debugging tools like JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
  • Creating technical documentation, including software requirements specifications, design documents, and test plans.

Needed skills for SW validation tools:

  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): Knowledge of software development processes and methodologies to effectively integrate validation activities into the development lifecycle.
  • Programming languages such as Python, C/C++, Java, or scripting languages like Shell scripting for writing automated test scripts and tool customization.
  • Ability to design test cases, test scenarios, and test plans based on requirements and specifications.
  • Familiar with testing techniques such as unit testing, integration testing, system testing, regression testing, and acceptance testing to validate software functionality at different levels.
  • Validation tools such as static code analysis tools, dynamic code analysis tools, unit testing frameworks, and test management systems.
  • Ability to analyze complex software systems, identify potential issues or risks, and devise effective validation strategies to migrate them.

SKILLS IN RELATIONSHIP AND MANAGEMENT / LEADERSHIP REQUIRED:

  • Team oriented; Ability to bring people together and drive results with project management and development of specific goals, challenges, and action plans. Excellent communication skill; will provide weekly/monthly activity reporting.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring and negotiating.
  • Target oriented and disciplined.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
SDE's are required to travel domestically and internationally to suppliers and other MAGNA facilities.
