Division Overview

Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities.

Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business.

HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview:


The Production Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager and is a key leadership position that directs and is responsible for the fabrication, assembly and production operation.

This position ensures that all daily activities for the assigned production value stream are customer focused and performed in a manner consistent with achievement of the plant vision and its goals and objectives.

This position is a key decision maker and escalation point for value stream issues or decisions across the entire manufacturing operation.

You will collaborate with engineering resources and other support functions (safety, quality, materials, inventory, etc.) on short and long-term improvements to the manufacturing operation.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Follow and propose initiatives to maintain employees safe.
  • Manufacturing: Set & maintain priorities, vision, and leadership.
  • Plant Support: Provide technical assistance & trouble shooting support to Materials, Quality, Engineering, Finance, Maintenance, Field Service, Shipping, and the Distribution Center. Ensure that cross training, continuing education is maintained for key salary and hourly personnel.
  • Cost reduction/Process improvement: Identify & initiate manufacturing improvements. Support engineering with cost reduction initiatives. Make necessary manning/overtime adjustments to support monthly production and shipping goals.
  • Database Clean-Up: Assist Engineering/Materials/Finance with updating and improving the accuracy of BOM's, planning parameters, manufacturing routers, manufacturing drawings, and SAP processes.
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Responsible for doing Behavioral Based Observation on a weekly basis.
  • Responsible for recognition and employee ́s engagement programs.
  • Perform various other projects and/or assignments, as directed.

Skills and Experience:


  • Manufacturing Industry Experience in similar role +3 years.
  • Experience leading salary, indirect and direct employees.
  • Training and experience implementing LEAN manufacturing
  • Demonstrated skill to read and understand bills of material, manufacturing work instructions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated examples of: Safety First, Initiative, Leadership, Innovation, and "outside the box"

Education:


  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering General
