ROLE DESCRIPTION

  • Support and facilitate interlocution with Government stakeholders to support Pfizer's business in Mexico.
  • Contrinbute to the development and implementation of innovative strategic policy and public affairs platforms to advance Pfizer Mexico's business and policy objectives, including but not limited to engaging government, privatesector, academic and civil society stakeholders and creation of broader industry coalitions and platforms.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the Policy and Public Affairs Lead in anticipating and assessing the impact of the external policy environment on business strategy, and support strategic counsel in business planning decisions.
  • Partner with Policy and Public Affairs Lead in representing Pfizer in industry associations and broader coalitions and platforms.

ROLE RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Proactively identify and asses trends, policies and opportunities and threats for Pfizer Mexico.
  • Prepare informational materials for management, highlighting opportunities and potential threats.
  • Support the development and implementation of strategic plans that effectively shapes the environment to create a favorable operating environment for Pfizer.
  • Contribute to position Pfizer as a trusted partner.
  • Prepare relevant materials and participate in advocacy functions at trade and business associations in the country, and leverage relationships with policy makers, think tanks, academics, embassies, US Chambers, Business Councils and other organizations to advance Pfizer's strategic objectives.
  • Works with the Public and Policy Affairs Lead to develop and implement new strategies in response to policy platforms of elected officials.
  • Collaborate with External Communication to communicate key topics such as health reform, access to medicines, pricing, trade agreements, IP, etc. through the development of briefing notes, position papers, talking points, as well as relevant correspondence, proposals and presentations.
  • Works in partnership with cross functional teams to develop policy strategies that proactively shape the environment for launch of new assets.
  • Support the adaptation and implementation of global level policy strategies and tactics to support access to Pfizer products addressing the patient affordability challenge.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams in assessing the impact of the external policy environment on business strategy.
  • Support the coordination and preparednes of the Leadership Team for external engagements.
  • Contributes to the business understanding of the impact of Policy/Corporate Affairs activities and role in supporting the commercial goals.
  • Maintain strict compliance with all applicable policies and laws, especially those related to interactions with government officials, patiend advocacy groups and other stakeholders.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: H&V, Legal, Commercial (public and private), Medical, Regulatory, Regional Corporate Affairs team
  • External: Government, academics, thinktanks, trade associations, policy makers, consultants and key opinion leaders.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in public policy, strategy or consulting related to policy, government relations, and/or corporate affairs.
  • Bachelor degree required. Advanced Degree in health/public policy, international affairs, political science, and related preferred
  • Knowledge of Mexican healthcare system, policy and pharmaceutical regulatory and access issues, major players and decisionmakers.
  • Ability to contribute in the development and implementation of effective, innovative and practical policy/public affairs and policy solutions and comprehensive plans that deliver results.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy appropriate "public affairs and policy" tools (advocacy, lobbying, stakeholder engagement plans).
  • Understanding of business strategy and key drivers of commercial success
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, and addres emerging issues and related risks that could impact Pfizer's business
  • Strong ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders. Skilled at advocacy influence within internal/external matrix organizations. Skilled at navigating complex environments through range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of the compliance, ethical and legal parameters for working with government and external stakeholders
  • Strong executive presence and interpersonal acumen, highly substantive and collaborative. Demonstrated ability to succinctly convey relevant information at the right time and withthe proper context and seek input as needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Excellent command of English language. Fluent in English and Spanish.
