Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Product Engineering Manager located in Guadalajara, North Campus


Reporting to the Director, Operations the Product Engineering Manager role involves receiving, analyzing, cleaning, and customizing all technical information/documentation from the customer related to his product, derived from a New Product Introduction (NPI) or a design change in order to establish all necessary processes to manufacture it by maintaining its design and performance integrity.


What a typical day looks like:

  • Handle product transfer and new product set up.
  • Participates with other senior managers in establishing corporate strategic plans and objectives.
  • Interacts regularly with executives, customers and outside regulatory agencies.
  • Drives engineering strategies to deliver customer requirements and recommend Flex capabilities in manufacturing and engineering services.
  • Support production by assessing product engineering issues of diverse scope that arise on production line.
  • Suggest improvements to process to obtain improved quality and production yield.
  • Solve product related problems and perform failure analysis related to product issues.
  • Interact with customer and various departments on product related issues engineering changes, new model development.
  • Work with design team to resolve design related issues.
  • Suggest modification to work instructions, material or product changes to ensure superior quality of products.
  • Customer ́s Bill of Material (BOM) analysis and structure definition for production.
  • Functional Product Documentation review.
  • Safety Requirements and regulations compliance identification.
  • Engineering Drawings Interpretation of individual parts and assemblies.
  • Request customer for drawing corrections, additions, clarification, measurements methods.
  • Lead Engineering Changes Implementation.
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM), tolerance analysis, Design of Experiment (DOE), formfitfunction to determine failure root/cause analysis and reporting to customer.
  • Provide support to supply chain to integrate parts derived from the vertical integration or localization effort.
  • Provide product training to the manufacturing/process engineers for better understanding of the product.
  • Request, handle and administrate golden samples, engineering samples of final product and/or piece parts.
  • Establish, operate and maintain a standard method for technical information interchange with the customer to control and preserve information of NPI transferred projects.
  • Analysis of customer product parts and assemblies through model files using Computeraided Design (CAD) system.
  • Analyze and determine course of action of Product Change Notification (PCN) and Manufacturing Change Order (MCO).
  • Ability to take additional responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer depending on the size and complexity of the customer product.
The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • BA/BS/MBA or equivalent work experience.
  • Fluent English oral and written.
  • Previous experience with SMT.
  • Previous engineering experience, including supervision.
  • Demonstrates advanced functional, technical and people and/or process management skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills.
  • Demonstrates mastery of expertise in multiple areas and industry.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of the function and a thorough understanding of Flex and related business.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of multiple functional technologies/processes, industries or functions and understanding of interdependencies of such processes at the site.
  • Must have a good knowledge of employment law and company practices, with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates expert functional, technical and people and/or process management skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills.
  • Demonstrates detailed expertise in very complex functional/technical area or broad breadth of knowledge in multiple areas; understands the strategic impact of the function across sites.
  • Typically requires ability to present information to top management.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
