Job Description Summary:
At GE Aerospace we reinvent the future of flight. via our products, operators and maintainers utilizing aircraft data to optimize aircraft operations and availability.

Staff Software Engineer is responsible for using their knowledge of programming languages to design software solutions. In this role you will be responsible for technical guidance, planning, directing, solutioning, and interacting with the stakeholders.

The duties include meeting with key stakeholders to determine their needs, coding, and testing software to ensure functionality and updating software programs to refine components like cybersecurity measures and data storage capacities.

Roles and Responsibilities

Identify the scope of the work, provide initial estimate and justify the estimate with facts
Demonstrate the understanding of Agile software development lifecycle and able to distinguish the core inputs and outputs in each cycle.
Engage in technical discussions; participate in technical designs and present technical ideas through white boarding
Maintain code quality through best practices, unit testing and code quality automation
Seek and provide feedback on design and development
Demonstrate the ability to make informed technology choices after due diligence and impact assessment
Understand whole product, its modules and the interrelationship between them while being an expert in the assigned component or module
Help in designing interfaces and information exchange between modules
Articulate the need for scalability and understand the importance of improving quality through testing.
Be an expert in writing code that meets standards and delivers the desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
Drive design reviews, define interfaces between code modules, and applies existing technology to designs
Be an expert in core data structures as well as algorithms and has the ability to implement them using language of choice
Be responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure
Provide guidance to a team of developers with either planning and execution and/or design architecture using agile methodologies such as SCRUM
Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
Identify the scope of the work, provide initial estimate and justify the estimate with facts
Translate requirements / vision into prioritized list of user stories and deliver to required timelines and quality standards
Work with product owner and architects to develop multi generation software technology plans
Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
Work cross functionally with other business departments to align activities and deliverables
Drive worldclass quality in the development and support of products
Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy, and results
Work on core data structures and algorithms and implement them using technology chosen

Education Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with advanced experience.

Required Qualifications:

Very Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns and Java coding principles.
Solid experience with frontend technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, React, JS libraries).
Solid experience in server technologies, such as web services or microservices, serverside frameworks (REST, SOAP, WSDL), containerization technologies (Docker,), cloud technologies.
Solid experience with databases (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, or similar) and database technologies (JPA, Hibernate, JDBC, Spring Data).
Strong problemsolving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments
Experience in building scalable and highly available distributed systems
Expert in breaking down problems and estimate time for development tasks
Solid Experience managing software development projects
Demonstrates clarity of thinking to work through limited information and vague problem definitions.
Able to work well with global teams, including timezone flexibility
Skilled in providing oversight and mentoring team members.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills to communicate ideas with confidence and clarity.
Demonstrated knowledge of schedule and resource planning techniques and project management tools.
Foster and inspire a collaborative work style and display teamoriented behavior with a proactive example of communication internally and externally
Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve too
