DESCRIPTION


As a Manufacturing Engineer 1 you will provide technical and administrative support to Caterpillar Remanufacturing facilities by ensuring cleaning processes and equipment results in meeting Caterpillar Cleaning specifications and standards for our products, as well as following up the monitoring of operational, continuous improvement, business plan (Salvage & NPI), and research-development (R&D) projects.

Ensure efficient and cost-effective cleaning processes are executed and implemented, as well as to seek continuous improvement.


JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Execute Cleaning Technology Strategy for Nuevo Laredo.
  • Coach and direct local operational teams to drive for efficiency of washing systems and processes for all

Nuevo Laredo Remanufacturing Business Units:

Fuel Systems (FS), Turbochargers (TR), Hydraulics (HYD), Starters & Alternators (S&A), Electronic Control Units (ECU), and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) - Clean Emissions Modules (CEM).


  • Collaborate and work as a team in coordination with local teams: Operations, Manufacturing, and In-Site Suppliers (Environmental & Maintenance) support departments.
  • Ensure introduction of environmentally friendly chemicals assuring Caterpillar EHS & HAZMAT policies and requirements are met.
  • Responsible to experiment and define optimum cleaning process factors (chemistry, temperature, cycle time, and mechanical force) for new processes.
  • Function as SME with local teams to perform cleaning process reviews for new products (NPIs, DFMEA, Validation, etc.).
  • Leads process to ensure cleaning process compliance with Caterpillar cleanliness specification 1Es as applicable or any other company standard or policy.
  • Follow established Quality procedures, such as procedure for product/process implementation: PCN & PPAP, Process Changes (Deviation), Capital Folder, etc.
  • Follow and execute validations of Quality and Safety procedure elements, such as SWI, PFMEA, Control Plan, Flow Diagram, and HAZMACO.
  • Functions as SME with local teams to define requirements and specifications for new cleaning machines or equipment implementations thru MQRs (Machine Qualification Requirements)
  • Not a washer is purchased without this person's involvement and leadership
  • Provides solutions to customers.
  • Observes Caterpillar Industrial Equipment Specifications Section 24.04 and manufacturing practice ML2003 (Wash System
  • Selection Guide) when new cleaning machines are planned to be purchased.
  • Ensure efficient and cost
- effective cleaning process implementation as well as continuous improvement follow up.

  • Functions as SME with local teams to explore new cleaning methods and products (chemistries, medias, etc.) and to execute R&D projects.
  • Capable of performing cleanliness audits, data collection, chemical titrations and chemical bath corrections.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • BS degree in Chemical / Environmental / Mechanical Engineering or related BS Engineering field
  • Intermediate-Advanced English level ( 80%), written and oral communication
  • Demonstrate appropriate language and communication skills
  • Demonstrates knowledge about fundamental mechanisms of precision aqueous cleaning methods (immersion, rotative, ultrasonics, etc)
  • Demonstrate knowledge regarding basic aqueous chemistries composition and related MSDS
  • Demonstrate knowledge about basic principles of mechanical and thermal cleaning (blasting, vibratory, fluidized bed, ovenfurnace, salt bath, high pressure, etc) and describe critical process parameters
  • Demonstrate skills & knowledge to analyze data, find root cause, and propose solutions and/or improvements on
- cleaning opportunities

  • Demonstrate knowledge about industry cleanliness standards and specifications
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of wastewater treatment methods
  • Project Management basics
  • Negotiation and prioritization skills
  • Able to travel (US B1/B2 Visa)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in industrial cleaning processes
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar Reman products
  • Remanufacturing knowledge
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • Project Management advanced skills
