Job Description (Sr Planner)

The Planner is a key supportive role to the site Production Manager; provides technical support, leadership and direction to the Manufacturing Operations.

The Planner position is responsible for ensuring the most efficient and effective production plan possible is created for each Job prior to scheduling the job on any Cost Center.

Responsible for ensuring all customer specifications are adhered to by the production plan.

Based on the customers item specifications, the Planner is responsible for analyzing / compiling data on factors that influence cost, such as labor, materials, machinery requirements and alerting Estimating / Supply Chain if changes to the Estimate and Pricing are required.

Job Requirements

Plan, direct, or coordinate production planning, production control, scheduling, warehousing, distribution, forecasting, for the Manufacturing Operations.
Ensures production plan for all demand streams does not exceed critical work center capacity.
Develops daily schedules and sequenced lineup for all product families.
Resolves material requirements planning exception messages for upper level bill of material assemblies
Ensures all factory demand requirements are accurately reflected in the production planning systems.
Collaborates with Order Fulfillment to facilitate and/or coordinate the sales and operation planning (S&OP)
Coordinates resource capacity and manpower planning with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations.
Analyzing production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resources requirements.
Ensure Operations meets shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
Adjust schedules to meet emergencies caused by extended leave or increased production demands.
Compiles and oversees inplant distribution of work schedule.
Prioritizes and plans work activities; use time efficiently; plans for additional resources; sets goals and objectives; organizes or schedules other people and their tasks; develops realistic action plans.
Perform all tasks and duties in a way that minimize time, resources and materials so that Essentra reaches its profitability goals.
Ensure that the operation complies with production goals established.
Attends regular or scheduled meetings as required.
Keep the supervisor informed of work area that does not have the necessary materials to avoid production down time.
Provides appropriate leadership to ensure that Essentra reaches its goals of zero accidents in the workplace.
Establish or monitor specific supply chainbased performance measurement systems.
Plan or implement material flow management systems to meet production requirements.
Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, related to the planning function.
Monitor product import or export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements.
Direct distribution operation to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy, or timelines objectives.
Plan and implement improvements to internal or external logistics processes.
Direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, and safety performance.

What Skills You Need

Knowledge of manufacturing processes and factory operations (Injection Molding is a plus).
Understanding of manufacturing databases and inputs.
Understanding of bills of material.
Working knowledge of the appropriate operating and information systems.
Experience with ERP systems (BPCS is a plus)
Advanced English (written and spoken)
