The Director LATAM Revenue Accounting is responsible for the accounting of Networks LATAM Ad Sales and Distribution Revenue. The role will initially lead the accounting over the Discovery networks with the expectation of increasing responsibility over time. This position will work closely with various region leads to ensure proper revenue recognition. This role is a key leadership position within the LATAM Controllership organization.


Responsibilities:

Lead the LATAM AdSales and Distribution accounting team of approximately 3-4 employees located in Mexico and Brazil.

Oversight responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, ensuring all deadlines are met, providing career and professional development/coaching to team members, ensuring complete and accurate accounting in the area of AdSales and Distribution revenue for various markets and networks, and implementing process improvements to drive operational efficiencies and effectiveness.

Ensure revenue is accounted for correctly and in accordance with ASC 606 US GAAP, and any local statutory reporting accounting principles as required.

Accounting requirements include properly recording revenue, agency commission, agency incentive, rep commission, bad debt expense, deferred revenue; complete and accurate financial statement presentation, including BS, P&L, SOX controls and SEC disclosures; assessing accounting treatment for non-standard agreements;

Participate in the review of standard and non-standard customer contracts, as needed, to assist in the determination of proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 and Company policies

Provide leadership and management of key system and process integrations in the AdSales accounting area over the next two to three years, especially as it relates to the recent merger with WarnerMedia and ERP initiatives.

_ JOB QUALIFICATION STANDARDS_

Work Experience

  • At least 8 years of work experience in an accounting role and a strong understanding of US GAAP and SOX requirements, local IFRS in LATAM a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory/leadership role
  • Accounting leadership experience in media & entertainment industry desirable
  • Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification
  • BS/BA in Accounting from an accredited university
  • Master's degree in Accounting or MBA a plus
  • CPA, Chartered Accounting, or local equivalent required

Knowledge/Skills

  • Proven accounting experience with US GAAP Revenue Accounting ASC 606 requirements
  • Big 4 Accounting firm experience a plus
  • Demonstrated background successfully leading a large accounting team, including teams located in differing international offices
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and strong organizational skills
  • Experience with SAP preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Adept and capable of effectively managing multiple tasks in a fastpaced environment
  • Embraces change driven by evo
