Job Summary:

Responsible for supervising, directing, and managing assigned employees in order to achieve company goals and meet customer needs. Maintains systems and processes, as well as, respond to inquiries, concerns, and requests to ensure best in class service. Ensuring effective and efficient operation of assigned terminal facility.


Essential Functions:


  • Supervise and monitor all activities within assigned HR functions and administer policies and processes including employee selection, performance management and evaluation including disciplinary action, assessment of training needs and employee engagement. Evaluate and recommend changes for staffing levels, employee pay and work schedules.
  • Establish and implement metrics/measurements to ensure continuous improvement and productivity for assigned terminal.
  • Ensure effective and efficient management of trailers at terminal facility.
  • Review, submit, and complete, the necessary budgeting for terminal operation.
  • Maintain communications between terminal and supervising authority.
  • Ensure that the maintenance of the building and grounds for assigned terminal is in acceptable order.
  • Assist in various operations duties [booking, assigning, and dispatching] as needed.
  • Assist in addressing driver disputes and/or issues as needed.

  • Develop direct reports to increase the bench strength and flexibility of the team. Ensure that employees receive appropriate training and resources to perform their jobs effectively and efficiently.
  • Handle all management level responsibilities for staff, including performance reviews, employee development, employee selection and engagement, terminations, coaching and counseling.
  • Evaluate and review recommended changes for staffing levels, employee pay and work schedules. Ensure a positive work environment and awareness of all staff of company goals and objectives and compliance to all applicable employment policies.
  • Lead by example and perform in accordance with the CFI Core Values and actively manage teams in support of the core values
  • Monitor and contribute to the organization's competitive edge by developing and executing best in class strategies

Scope and Accountability:

Responsible for planning and end results through management of team(s); defines roles and responsibilities, plans for the department's future needs and operations; counsels employees on performance and contributes to employee pay decisions/ changes; may manage through other supervisors or be responsible for a small service center or warehouse; contributes to the standards around which others will operate


Knowledge and Experience:


  • 3 years of transportation management including customer service, fleet management, and planning
  • Bachelor's degree or related work experience preferred.
  • Speak both English and Spanish (border terminal locations only).
  • General knowledge of budgeting and financial issues.
  • Knowledge of Windowsbased software, including Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of FMCSR (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations)
  • Knowledge of U.S. and Canadian geography

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment:

The duties of this job are performed in both an office environment and a light industrial environment, thereby experiencing some minor to moderate level of noise due to office equipment and industrial equipment.

Employee is occasionally required to travel to meetings or other engagements by automobile, airplane or other method of travel.

If the employee drives a car in these instances, the employee must have all capabilities needed to do so safely.
