Core Purpose of the Role:

Responsibility for all countries in Latin America (LATAM) in which AIG operates.

Responsibility includes managing the LATAM tax team, the quarterly reporting cycle under US GAAP/ IFRS equivalent and annual corporate tax/regulatory compliance, handling tax queries and providing support to the business on a variety of tax technical issues and projects.

Will involve regular interaction with country and regional CFO.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Actively manage direct tax compliance process by ensuring submission of statutory tax returns in the region in an accurate and timely manner
  • Manage tax authority enquiries and audits including liaising with external advisors and inhouse tax specialists.
  • Work with inhouse tax planning group to assist transactions/internal restructuring. Operationalise and implement transactions.
  • Build, maintain and develop strategic relationships with key internal and external (including advisors and local tax regulatory bodies) stakeholders to support delivery of tax advice to finance and the business organisation
  • Advise finance staff with their technical tax questions on variety of issues including operationalising transactions, tax accounting queries, tax payments and impact of changes in legislation.
  • Ensure best practices/policies and consistent procedures are applied in the region
  • Implement tax processes across the region.
  • Manage transfer pricing obligations, including review of financing, reinsurance and management charge transactions
  • Manage direct tax reports and the wider LATAM tax team and workflow in accordance with regional timetable for internal and external tax deliverables

  • Responsive to time pressure and ability to work to agreed deadlines and objectives
  • Able to identify, assess and communicate relevant issues on a timely basis
  • Team player with ability to build relationship with different parts of the business
  • Management experience of leading a team

Key Experience:


  • 5+ years of post qualification experience (PQE), preferably in insurance / financial services
  • Experience with managing tax aspects of complex transactions in a regulated environment
  • Proficient with US GAAP tax reporting (ASC 740) and IFRS
  • Fluent Spanish and English
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant / Charted Tax Advisor / Local Equivalent
  • Experience of negotiating with tax authorities
  • Experience of operating at a management level
  • Prior work experience in a multinational organisation
