Manufacturing Operations Legal Counsel


Manufacturing Operations Legal Counsel is the secondary person responsible for managing legal issues faced by BD Mexico Manufacturing Sites (9 Sites ).

Manufacturing Operations Legal Counsel provides deputy legal representation to the Organization of Manufaturing in Mexico, and Caribe Manufacturing Operation in Latin America.

This associate must possess strong initiative, as well as excellent management and leadership skills and strong BD Manufacturing and Labor Law, Union Law acumen.

The position coordinates a large number of lawfirms due to the number of Manufacturing siteswhere we have presence (7 Mexico States) the current number of lawfirms is around 15 lawfirms located in diffierent states and with different legal specialities.


The position will be responsible for day to day legal matters associated with BD's operations in Mexico, Central Amercia and Caribe and the Andean Hub Countries providing broad based legal support to BD ́s business units and functions.


This position advises on global employment issues, takes lead in identifying and addressing potential legal issues and risks for current Union activities.

It develops and provides trainings on HR legal issues, processes and policies to multi-level audiences in all BD Manufacturing sites.

In addition, the position will have to lead and manage one direct report, a junior lawyer. Also Provides legal counseling and contractual risks with a strong and high sense of urgency. Deals with a diverse array of complex matters (including project and service contracts, litigation, labor, regulatory, and duly accomplishment of legal Government requests to the Company.

This role with work closely with other members of the OLT located in throughout Mexico BD Manufacturing sites as well as with BD Manufacturing sites outside counsel.


Job Description:


Main Activities:

  • Oversight of litigation attorneys in BD Manufacturing sites
  • Provide advice on the interpretation, implementation and administration of policies and procedures; drafts memorandums, contracts, policies, procedures and legal documents in BD Manufacturing sites.
  • Prepare responses to and represent BD and subsidiary organizations regarding complaints/claims filed with federal and/or state agencies or courts in all BD Manufacturing sites.
  • Perform legal research, analyze, organize, and strategize effectively.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment commensurate with specialized legal skills and experience.
  • Create and maintain a work environment that promotes client service, teamwork, performance feedback, individual recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction ensuring quality hiring, training, and succession planning processes that encompass the company's diversity commitment.
Perform other duties as required.

  • Liasing with a variety of external entities, including external counsel, government agencies and suppliers.
  • Provide legal protection and risk management advice to OLT High management BD Manufacturing sites.
  • Provide and interpret legal information, conduct training and disseminate appropriate legal requirements to Associates.
  • Providing assistance required for documents, communications, review and draft contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements.
  • Review progress of outstanding litigation and liaise with and manage external lawyers.
  • Continuously monitor compliance with statutory obligations and advise management accordingly.
  • Review all contracts or any other documentation where the Company has committed itself and assess legal implications that need to be brought to the executive management's attention.
  • Negotiate, review and draft documentation for Bargain Collective Agreements and prepare and advise on the necessary checklist to be adopted to ensure information is submitted on time.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor degree in Law
  • Corporate/Business Law Postgraduate Degree
  • 5 years of experience in a similar role in a medical devices or ph
