  • The Impact You'll Make in this Role
  • The Assistant Controller plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial data and processes within the organization. While transactional accounting work is handled by our shared service center, the local accountant is responsible for overseeing these processes, analysing financial information, and providing insights and support to different departments and stakeholders. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Some of the key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial Analysis:_ Analyse financial data provided by the shared service centre to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement. Provide insights and recommendations to different departments, shared service center and management.
  • Tax Compliance:_ Support in the preparation of tax returns, compliance with tax laws and regulations as required, and provide support during tax audits
  • Auditing:
_ Assist with internal and external audits, including preparing audit schedules, providing documentation, and addressing audit findings

  • Internal Controls:


_ Monitor internal controls related to financial processes and transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices.

Identify control weaknesses and recommend corrective actions.- Financial Compliance:_ Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal and external standards (US-GAAP, statutory GAAP and GFS)- Continuous Improvement:_ Stay current with statutory accounting standards, regulations, and best practices, and seek opportunities to improve processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Identify financial risks in the matrix organization and develop strategies to mitigate them, such as implementing internal controls and risk management procedures.

Collaborate with the shared service centre and other stakeholders to implement changes and streamline processes.- Reporting:_ Prepare and compile internal and governmental statistical reports in accordance with established guidelines, formats, and deadlines.

Ensure that all required information is included and presented accurately.- Collaboration and Communication:_ Work closely with other departments, shared-service center and stakeholders to provide financial information, support decision-making, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Provide training and support to shared-service staff on financial processes, systems, and best practices as needed. Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including external auditors, and regulatory authorities. Communicate financial information and updates in a clear and timely manner.- Projects:_ Collaborate with cross-functional teams on various projects (e.g. inventory and fixed asset verification), including system implementations. Contribute expertise and insights to cross-functional teams and strategic initiatives.- Ad-

Hoc Requests:
_ Respond promptly and accurately to ad-hoc requests from management and other departments. Gather and analyze data to support decision-making processes.

  • Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, New Health Care Company requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Expert in accounting or finance roles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g. SAP, Oracle)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize
