Regional Supply Chain Sustainability Lead
***
Purpose of the role: The Regional Supply Chain Sustainability & Diversity Lead (per region) has focus on all Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects of the Supply Chain and relationships with regional suppliers of HSBC, and plays an important role in the delivery of HSBC's sustainability commitments around Carbon Emissions, Responsible Consumption, Supplier Diversity, and Human Rights.


They will work closely with the Regional Head of Procurement and Global Supply Chain Sustainability & Diversity Lead to support them in implementing the strategy for a sustainable and diverse supply chain in their region.

Key focus areas include making our supply chain Net Zero by 2030, supporting goals on responsible consumption, significantly increasing supplier diversity, further improving the ethical evaluation of our suppliers, and ensuring their alignment with HSBC's values when it comes to human rights, at a regional and local level.


They will ensure that global best practice in policies, processes, and projects are adopted at a regional level, and they will support with the development of global sourcing strategies that leverage our competitive position, and balance cost and sustainability benefits.


The role holder will engage with local ESG teams and regional suppliers, to ensure ESG frameworks, practices and procedures are employed, escalating compliance issues as required to the Regional Head of Procurement and Global Supply Chain Sustainability & Diversity Lead and seeking guidance on best practice from global, regional and country teams.

Requirements


Activities

  • Drive the development of regional/local sustainability strategies that align business objectives, customer requirements, and HSBC Sustainability commitments
  • Collaborate with and influence regional stakeholders to ensure sustainability strategies are executed effectively at a regional and local level, implementing global best practices in ESG
  • Support the Global Supply Chain Sustainability & Diversity Lead and Regional Head of Procurement in developing sustainability objectives for inclusion in scorecards, assisting with the definition of metrics and target proposals based on market best practices linked to the sustainability focus areas in strategic sourcing and the sustainability objectives of HSBC
  • Provide regular reporting updates to local ESG teams
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Global Supply Chain Sustainability team, to ensure alignment on HSBC ESG requirements
  • Act as a primary point of contact for regional / local suppliers with respect to ESG compliance/understanding issues
  • Drive projects to address specific ESG issues, in support of delivery on objectives
  • Lead or participate in regional and local Steering Committees and working groups
  • Support the delivery of sustainable value through the provision of sustainable sourcing strategies and assurance, risk management, contractual protection and consistent best practice for HSBC
  • Support the development and communication of (group) policies, standards, methodologies and solutions appropriate to a sustainable supply chain
  • Lead the collation of performance data and the associated reporting from local country leads through the regional governance framework

Requirimets

  • 8 years+ experience in a similar role
  • 3+ working in a relevant ESG role
  • University degree educated or equivalent training/professional development
  • Postgraduate (e.g. MBA) preferred in relevant discipline
  • To meet or exceed agreed ESG targets, including improved ESG compliance from strategic suppliers
  • Ensure the implementation of sustainability standards in the procurement processes and systems
