Regional (LAM) COO Chief of Staff

Role purpose:


  • The Regional Chief Operating Office (LAM COO) organization comprises a set of outcome focused services, owned end to end, including IT, Global Operations, Transformation Services, Procurement, Corporate Services, Data Architecture, CCO and Performance Services.
  • LAM COO Chief of Staff will report and provide support directly to LAM COO. The role holder is responsible for ensuring that the latter's legal and regulatory responsibilities, including Senior Manager requirements, are fully met and evidenced.
  • The role holder is expected to support LAM Digital Business Services strategy development and to provide dedicated strategic and operational management support for its execution.
  • The role holder will partner with the LAM DBS senior leadership team to drive the performance and cultural change required of a high performing and agile organization, including engagement and influence over senior executive leadership team across HSBC Latin America (LAM Executive Committee/HLAH Board members).
  • The role holder will proactively identify emerging risks and resolve issues. As such, the Chief of Staff will require exceptional personal judgement, strong stakeholder management, communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with senior leaders across the organization.
  • The role holder shall prepare LAM COO for key meetings (e.g. internal senior meetings, suppliers or even regulators), by providing briefing notes and strategic thought leadership.
  • The role holder will provide executive administration services for key meetings attended or chaired by the LAM COO. This may include undertaking secretarial duties, preparing briefing notes, scheduling meetings, managing actions, deputizing and planning external events and offsites.
  • The role holder shall leverage the wider Performance Services organization, including Corporate Governance and Business Intelligence services to support the execution of their responsibilities.

Main activities:


  • Support the implementation of DBS strategy across LAM, working in close collaboration with LAM DBS executive team.
  • Review and conduct LAM DBS Governance by setting proper and fit for purpose meetings, performance & risk regular reviewed indicators, required audience.
  • Proactively monitor and manage LAM DBS strategy execution by ensuring proper and fit for purpose scorecards updates.
  • Review management reports, presentations and papers and provide periodic updates for the LAM COO as required.
  • Assess emerging risks and issues, providing reports and recommendations for action as directed by LAM COO.
  • Manage LAM COO commitments across group level governance forums, including writing and reviewing papers for steering committees, risk forums and executive committees.
  • Review and conduct LAM DBS Governance by setting proper and fit for purpose meetings, performance & risk regular reviewed indicators, required audience.
  • Proactively monitor and manage LAM DBS strategy execution by ensuring proper and fit for purpose scorecards updates.
Requirements

  • Seasonedexecutive able to build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders and to effectively manage required demands on a fastpaced, rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to present complex issues confidently and concisely converting them to simple language to both global and regional executives & nonexecutives.
  • Resilience to work well under pressure, holding flexibility and adaptability to rapidly change priorities over potentially highly restricted, unpredictable and wide ranging tasks.
  • Outstanding relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Strong financial analytical background and proven ability in financial/analytical reasoning, including contextualizing financial data into business activities and conclusions.
  • Understanding of the HSBC Group and its strategy, structures and processes.
