4TH GRADE TEACHER
To plan, develop, and implement the teaching activities of the position under the Peterson School's educational model.
REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Education
- 2 years teaching experience
- Bilingual
- Spanish & English
- Proficiency in the use of the Office software suite: Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Is skilled in the use of the Internet and Intranet.
- Proficiency in the use of the Student Information System (REDIKER) Admin Plus.
- Stays current on new technology to help improve the quality of work.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To promote a learning environment in agreement with the Peterson School's educational model and philosophy.
- To identify the needs and characteristics of the students in order to develop appropriate educational strategies.
- To plan the teaching and learning processes focusing on competencies and locating them in wide disciplinary, curricular, and social contexts.
- To develop and review his/her area's yearly work plan with his/her Department Head and the Curriculum Department.
- To follow up on the learning process based on the results obtained in the standardized tests establishing achievable work goals.
- To create and hand in to the Principal's Office biweekly and bimonthly work plans in a timely manner.
- To promote the wellbeing, safety and harmony of the group.
- To be punctual when coming in to work, and to begin and end each class.
- To enrich the program using strategies and material that encourages different learning styles.
- To use the available resources and materials in an adequate manner to favor the learning skills of the 21st century: collaboration, creativity, communication, problem solving, and critical thinking.
- To prepare the materials needed for class beforehand.
- To implement healthy living and leadership programs in all of his/her class planning.
- To keep a work journal to briefly record the day's work: facts or circumstances, students' reactions and opinions, general outcome or the day, etc. (avance programatico, due every two weeks).
- To create a portfolio per student (bimonthly with two work samples per area).
- To keep an updated attendance record of students and grades.
- To keep a record of children who are performing poorly academically and send them to the Principal's office or Psychology department. To give support by following up on the suggested strategies.
- To communicate the students' progress to parents at meetings and other appropriate instances.
- To plan interdisciplinary events (Family Day, Science Fair, etc.).
- To promote a social, civic, ethical, and ecological conscience among his/her students and their families.
- To favor the participation and expression of ideas among all his/her students in a critical and respectful manner.
Salary:
$27, $30,000.00 per month

Education:
- High school or equivalent (preferred)
Experience:
- Teaching: 5 years (required)
Language:
- English (required)
License/Certification:
