Tecnico de Metrologia III

Description
Provides highly complex product and component testing using a range of measurement methods and Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE).

Develops and documents testing procedures, by using best practices and/or consensus standards, including automated procedures as needed.

Provides advanced execution and training in the programming and operation of M&TE.


Acts as a technical specialist assisting lab managers, engineers and customers in the selection of appropriate test methods/technology and analyzes and interprets measurement data.

Develops/leads inter-laboratory comparisons and measurement assurance programs.

Leads uncertainty studies associated with measurement or calibration results.

Ensures maintenance of the laboratory quality system.

Applies knowledge of applicable quality standards (e.g. 17025, ISO 9001, AITF and appropriate Cummins procedures.

Ensures the purchase process of appropriate lab services and consumables is followed.

Ensures proper maintenance and calibration of lab M&TE.


Acts as a technical resource in the day-to-day lab operations, assisting engineering and quality staff in highly complex measurement and M&TE support.

Audits data quality metrics associated with assigned work.

Participates in the development of laboratory strategy, SIPOC (Supplier, Input, Process, Output, Customers) process and score card development.

Supports continuous improvement activities related to data quality, lab quality system etc.

Acts as a coach/mentor for apprentices, technicians and engineers as needed.

Measurement Science - Analyzes measurement processes throughout the relevant traceability chain to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty relevant to the appropriate applied measurement science, "Metrology" e.g.

Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical and Radiation and Physical.


Laboratory Management - Leads technical resources while managing the business aspects of a laboratory using measure to control both the technical and business aspects of the organization and assuring the requirements of the appropriate certifications and/or accreditations are met.


Data Quality - Identifies, understands and corrects flaws in data that supports effective information governance across operational business processes and decision making.


Education, Licenses, Certifications


High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

A regionally applicable Certification (e.g. US Department of Labor) or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college program in a relevant field of study.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.


Experience
Requires significant work experience and in-depth knowledge obtained through specialized training and relevant experience.
