BigCommerce is seeking an experienced
IT Audit Manager to join its Internal Audit team.

The Manager, Internal Audit, is responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on IT SOX compliance activities including designing, testing, and remediation of IT General controls and related areas impacting financial reporting.

The role will primarily be engaged with SOX compliance activities initially, however, is expected to expand over time to be involved with the Company's enterprise risk management process and operational audits addressing IT risks.

The position reports to the Sr. Director of Internal Audit and is currently an individual contributor role.

Although there are no immediate managerial responsibilities of direct staff, this position will manage audit teams from outsourced consultants including the review of work papers, instruct audit staff, and prepare/review the audit report of observations.

In addition, this role will be expected to collaborate closely with the CIO office to ensure that SOX compliance requirements are adequately addressed for changes in IT systems and processes.


What you will do:


  • Perform SOX scoping exercises as needed to determine if there are any changes to IT systems or related processes that should be considered to determine what is in scope for SOX purposes
  • Perform assessments of inscope systems, processes, and controls to verify that controls are designed appropriately and operating effectively. Assist in the definition of remediation plans, activities, and retesting
  • Facilitate IT management's documentation updates and management assessments of all inscope IT processes based on SOX requirements
  • Analyze the SOX testing results and work with management to identify document and test remediation plans for identified deficiencies
  • Document results of audit work in accordance with the Internal Audit Department and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards
  • Provide regular updates regarding the status of the SOX testing plans, the issues identified, and solutions to address identified deficiencies
  • Facilitate external auditor SOX testing
  • Frequently interact with functional peer groups at all levels, including senior management and external auditors
  • Research and stay current on new technical literature applicable to the internal controls process (e.g., PCAOB guidance, SEC, COSO, COBIT, etc.), emerging trends, and best practices

Who you are:


  • BA/BS degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field
  • Professional certification CPA or CIA with additional IT audit certifications such as CISA, and CISM
  • 8+ years of IT audit experience with 3+ years as a manager
  • Experience with IT audit roles in technology/software industry organizations combined with Big 4 audit firm background preferred
